AMEN AGAIN!!!

I did not buy my car planning to resell it. I did not mod my car planning to resell it.

I plan on giving it to my kind when they put me in the ground!!! lot of money, sweat and a little blood into this car and more to come. No desire to do the work on my dream car just to sell it to someone that more then likely would not respect it or take care of it.

Not everyones view of cars and certainly to each their own but I never plan on reselling my camaro and I think many Gen V owners feel that same way.

HOWEVER! you won't have the look, mag ride, entertainment center, wheels etc etc, would need to blow another 5k+ for that minus mag ride, though considering a low miles SS goes foor under 30k you'd still be cheaper.

Personally what i'm debating is doing an engine swap to the LSX454 and pro charging that with supporting mods and suspension mods it would be around 30k which is the current difference between my car and zl1. I'm waiting a year though till new electronic package comes in before making my final decision.
Make sure you research when you introduce numbers in a discussion. Those numbers are off by a couple grand each. I believe a Pedderised & Supercharged Camaro will outrun a ZL1, strip and track.

Now just because it's modified doesn't mean it was ran hard but that's what the general public will think. In my opinion you will be better off if you can get the ZL1 and with it you will get a lot more respect from the people in the know. Resale value is not lost cause of questions about how and who modified it and was it done right, will it still be dependable blah blah blah.

Get the ZL1, in the long run you will be much happier and have a warranty.
Yes I agree!
However it boils down to personal wants. That's right what do YOU (whoever) want?
If your ever gonna sell it buy the ZL1.
If your all about drag racing build your own.

If it were me, 70% of the time I would trade it in for a ZL1. After modding a SS the performance will be comparable if not better, but for me it's also about the look and legitimacy of the Z. I wouldn't want to modify the looks of an SS to be a ZL1 clone, I would want the more rare car, the real mccoy so to speak...ZL1.

Having said that, the 30% is pulling at me to tinker with the car I already own...

Yummy ZL1 for lunch........Build it bigger and better for cheaper.
After seeing the ZL1 up close I don't see the need for magnetic suspension or some interior trim pieces. Buy a SS and make it your own with the money you saved. There was a video somewhere that road guys don't like the magnetic ride for track days and prefer a good set of coil overs.

Me too.....Mag ride control is very nice but it's hardly earth shattering and a well tuned Pfadt or Pedders car would hang with it easily.

Plus, when it comes time to replace mag ride shocks the oe ones, from the dealer, I`m quoting the ones on Vette`s, are close to 900 dollars each!

One other thing into consideration ,after Finishing the cosmetic modding of my car even with the new coming ZL1s to my town my car will be completely unique and different from any camaro you have seen around and best of all it will look exactly the way I want it to look and perform a BEAST.

To each their own. spend the 20k lose on longevity of your drivetrain and warranty.

you better be racing for a lot of pinks to be able to fix that car up every time it breaks.

why would it break if it was tuned correctly,i mean a properly tuned and maintained car in every way would go thousands of miles without breaking.

Fool yourself with resale value thinking SS and ZL1 will be the same... not.
...come again?

Also, you had me rollin at the ABM over Black comment.
