Don't forget the Camaro went under with the prev Gen design.
The previous generation Camaro (4th gen) went down because the 2002 Camaro wouldn't pass the new safety regulations that were set to take place in 2003.

Yep - just like the 93-97 Camaro looked like a Geo Metro and the 98-2002 Camaro looked like a Chrysler Concorde.

the tail lights arnt the problem for me. I like my 2013s better but the 14s arnt bad, they deffinitely grew on me. I thnk the Its the rear diffuser. Way too much of that plastic looking crap IMO.

It kinda reminds of the tail lights from a 90's Nissan 240SX

I need to see the new 2014 lights in person to get a real opinion. However, I'm liking them more and more every time I see them again in pictures.
I prefer the non-RS lights over the RS too.

Here are some images from the F-Body Gathering in Atlanta. I wasn't a big fan from pictures before and can say it looks much better in person.

For those that don't remember, the 2014 Camaro taillights are very similar to the 1993-2002 Camaro taillights... As well as the 3rd gens.... As well as the late 2nd gens.... and the same overall shape as the 1st gens, even though 1st gens' taillights were flat...

5th Generation pic from above flipped horizontally so it's at the same general angle as most of the pics below:

4th Generation:

3rd Generation:

Late 2nd Generation (early 2nd gens were the odd ball with the two circle taillights...)

1st Generation, though flat, carries the same shape:
talk about hitting the nail on the head! Couldn't agree with you more, I dont know why everybody hates them, the tail lights on the 10-13 are styled from the vette.

More accurately, GM didn't want to invest the $$ into the Camaro to meet those regs. The generation was getting long in the tooth plus slumping sales, and the impending regs were stacked against it. Thus, it was put on hiatus. Exact reason(s) that triggered the plug pull were not entirely disclosed to me.

I'm thinking GM needed to see that the Camaro was worth a 5th gen back in the late 90s early 2000s. So either they didn't see a demand OR they weren't really investing in the next generation at the time anyway.

I'm sure Scott has better and more accurate info.

Here are a few more from the Gathering this weekend...maybe a few new angles ?

I don't like them as much as the 10-13's....but they do look good !

I'd still buy a Camaro again !

If you want to see any of these bigger, just ask.

2 great looking cars...side by side

I don't really like them but I think they MIGHT look a little better if they were tinted... But it was still good of Chevy to try something new and try to make everyone else on the road know that is a Camaro from behind. I can spot a Mustangs taillights from a far distance away but it's harder with the 10-13 Camaros. Still though, they could have done better then what they did with the 14's.

My '70 Nova taillights looked closer to the '14's lights. Closer than the 1st gen ones in my opinion. The reverse light was in thev middle of the red lens.. No chrome in between,. Can anyone post a pic of the '70 Nova lights? Thanks.
