They aren't bad, I just prefer the current taillights

For some unknown reason I think it's sad that some feel Chevy and Camaro are copying Honda and imports, instead of realizing that Chevy is entitled to use it's own styling cues from the past, regardless of what co-incidental look the imports may have come up with in the meantime...
Ah alright I didn't realize that's what you meant.

Lights

Think I like the 10-13's for the inspired Corvette look.
Only other tails i like are the 68-70's.

Don't forget the Camaro went under with the prev Gen design.

I agree with you on that...but I don't think a tail-light design change is a sign that the going under thing will be repeated....The car is still 99% the same as the rest of the 5thGens....

My vote was a NO. When I saw what the 14 tail lights looked like I went straight to the dealership and ordered a 2013. The front end looks good but I don't like the RS package lights on the rear.

Front OK, rear tail lights look too generic so I don't like.

My major style dislike on the 2014 Camaro is the extra trim around the wheel wheels. Looks like an afterthought and tacked on. Was this trim tacked on to try and reduce lower body panel paint chips? I vote Hate regarding the wheel well trim parts.

For those that don't remember, the 2014 Camaro taillights are very similar to the 1993-2002 Camaro taillights... As well as the 3rd gens.... As well as the late 2nd gens.... and the same overall shape as the 1st gens, even though 1st gens' taillights were flat...

5th Generation pic from above flipped horizontally so it's at the same general angle as most of the pics below:

4th Generation:

3rd Generation:

Late 2nd Generation (early 2nd gens were the odd ball with the two circle taillights...)

1st Generation, though flat, carries the same shape:
Thank you! As a long time Camaro enthusiast it kills me when people don't understand just how spot on the new tail lights are to what has always been Camaro. They remind me of the original 1969 Z/28 tail lights sooooo much.

They had a hit with the Gen 5 Camaro, why not just improve on it instead of going backwards on the tail lights.
I like what they did with the vette tails, but that's out of my price range.

I think that people automatically see the Prelude is because the Prelude was more recent than the Camaros that used that style..

(And just a thought, maybe the imports used styling cues from domestics)

Yeah, I think the new tail-lights would have been fine without the wrap-around business....but I think they tried to be more "contemporary" as well and maybe over-reached a bit...Wouldn't be a deal killer for me if I was in the market for one, though...

I've heard the 'Vette tail-lights were originally for the Camaro, but got bumped up for the new Sting-Ray...lol...They do have a policy of "model-mixing" and borrowing styling cues from each other...just part of the design game...At a Chevy dealer showroom a while back, there was a poster thing for the Malibu worded with the sporty look it had with the Camaro-like tail-lights...lol...

Not to worry though....I wouldn't read too much into the tail-lights on the '14s as far as repeating a downturn in styling with the Camaros...I'm sure there will be mods-a-plenty for those who may want to re-work them somehow....

There's so many friggin makes and models these days, it's practically near impossible to have something that doesn't resemble something else...Doesn't appear to be any patents on tail-light design as far as who had what first...lol...

But I still think you can't always intentionally avoid a similar look every time...the wrap-around business is pretty common and on the new Camaros I don't think it's necessarily an unattractive feature for car buyers....It's just tail-lights, don't think anyone will mistake the car itself for something else...

I have gone from dislike to neutral about them. I then seen a 1LE non RS with recaro's its awesome IMO. Its what I would order now.
