I would like a SS, but where I live they are around $100,000. I'm am very pleased with my V6 anyway. I also worked hard and saved my money too, but they are too expensive. Maybe if I move back to the states and I sell my V6 I could afford to own one in the US. Good job being careful with your money!

And to answer the question, I get asked that question a lot. People are surprised how reasonable the price of a Camaro in China is. It is still a lot more than it would be back home, but with taxes and transportation halfway across the world, I can accept the price. There are many lesser cars out there that cost a whole lot more. I worked hard, saved my money and never spend cash on useless things. Interestingly enough, my wife and I were debating whether to get (another) Z4, Porsche Boxer or an Audi TT when we were shopping for a new car, and we are just a couple of teachers- we try to make wise choices so we can afford nice thing!

..highly doubtful unless you study the trim levels before purchasing a certain model. Remember the questions, "what's it got under the hood?" or "how much hp does it have?"..

..yeah, overseas $ are ludicrous, unless you're in the oil business.

My trainees saw my car and asked how much management here makes. When I told them that I got mine for 19k they were amazed. Why pay the same for a used civic or new carolla when I can have this?!
I love how much car you get for the buck. I still get stares in a plain 2LS. People unfamiliar with the car think it is expensive. My ex thought I was now rich haha

I found the original window sticker on my 2010 2SS/RS that had the MSRP at $39,100. I bought it in immaculate condition last month with only 9500 miles for $24k. My family, friends, work etc. all assume that I paid a small fortune for it.

I'm 27 and get this a lot because people think it's at minimum a $50,000 car... Mine's only a 1LT so not even close but still amazing!

I just purchased a new 2015 Camaro 2LS with the 20% off MSRP deal last week of December. Ended up getting the Camaro for $19,000 after trading in my Equinox. The first few days I parked it at work, I had people wondering how I could buy such as expensive car. When I tell them what I paid I can tell they don't believe me. Just unreal.

I also used the $7000 from my trade-in and about $1700 from my GM Card earnings. The dealer was actually kind of surprised it all went through but I had already contacted GM directly to make sure all of my discounts applied and that I was still able to use my earnings.
So the $27,495 included $7K from your trade?

I'm guilty of a similar naïveté except regarding minivans. I was floored when a co-worker said she paid over $42k for a Honda Odyssey. It had a lot of cool tech and comfort features so the price made a little more sense, but I was really out of touch with the minivan market.

My experience as well. Until I was car shopping I didn't realize the base model Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro were so reasonably priced. Next thought, identical to yours, was "Why did I buy this Malibu for the same price?" Malibu out, Camaro in.

People unfamiliar with the cars do NOT know the difference between a ZL1 and a 1LS. They only see the body shape and Camaro badge, and assume it's some supercar. It's only those who own these types of cars and other enthusiasts that know there's a ton of trim and motor configurations.
