And having had a lot of experience with chains, they are not dangerous if used right, driven properly, and checked for defects. On a camaro, sure that's not the case, but I mean in general. I say that because everyone here seems to think it's a bad idea. And snow tires give a little more traction, but not nearly enough. Like others I can't just buy another car. This is honestly ridiculous.

sorry for wall of text, blame this site :P

You, sir, are a fool.

I live in Minnesota, and drove my SS an entire winter in the snow. Zero issues. Even 5+ inches of snow were no match for my car with 19" snow tires.

Learn to drive the car before you bash the car.

I haven't used Chains on anything since the 70's............ Found out in most cases they were too much of a PITA.

It is so hard for me to read this thread....my Camaro has been in the garage for the last two weeks because of the rain here in So, Cali........my wife is like WTF? I say...."she will get dirty"!!!! So your talk about driving in the snow turns my stomach, I would throw up if I saw my camaro in snow!! But then again, it's not a daily driver for me.

You should use those chains to lock him in the basement for even recommending it.

LOL J/K. I would love to drive mine in the snow but having the ground effects package won't help my case so winter beater it is. Last month we had over 8" of snow fall in a few hours and that beater went through it like a champ and it's not an SUV either. If you know how to drive in the snow, any car will do just fine doesn't matter the drive type.

Good Snow tires. That is all you need, the engineering and technology used to make current snow tires is amazing compared to the "old days". The stock summer tires don't function below 40 degrees F. The stock all-season tires will do OK in lighter snow, but good snow tires are needed for the heavy stuff.

Three years of DD in NY in all weather on the NYS Thruway every day (86k miles on it now).

Sorry CoupeSS - don't look!

Its not the snow that hurts it,its the salt used to melt the snow.

Thankfully there are 3 coin ops within 4 miles of my house and another 2 blocks from work

Washing your car in the winter at least once a week is a good thing

Using a lawn sprinkler placed under the car and moved to various locations for about 10 minutes at each location works very well to wash out salt.

I totally understand the wash your car salt deal, as a Mayer of fact I didn't even think of the salt factor which really freaks me out. I am so OCD my car avoids puddles to stay clean.....
