They didn't have any to test drive on Oct. 13th... so we just ordered one. Haven't been sorry one minute !

We recently went in for an oil change and they had a blue one in and we asked about it and were told that it was an ordered car, they still don't hve any lot cars yet, and won't for quite some time. Hopefully they'll be able to catch up with the orders soon and be able to get some on the lot, until then I think Avis is your only "test drive" option.

I got to test drive both the V6 and the V8 and just loved it. The V6 was great but the V8 even with the salesmen with me i drove it like i stole it if you know what i mean. I must have stopped it in the middle of that country road over a half a dozen times and punched it. The salesmen laughed and said this is great isnt it he owns a vette so he knew how this test run was going to go. Im currently checking out current inventory around these parts not much here so im going to just order mine.

First dealer I went to basically said "no, we do not offer test drives." They had 1 SS and 1 LT. The guy basically said the cars will sell within the week and someone else will be taking them home soon so we want to preserve them for that buyer. He also said, people that want to buy this car don't care how it drives, they want it for what it is. I also told him I would order a 6 speed manual and the one I was looking at was auto and "it would be a different experience anyway."

Second dealer only had one in the showroom, said no and would not elaborate further.

Third dealer (who I will likely order from) did not have any to test.

Did you guys have problems getting a test drive? Or did you just order "sight-unseen?"

What part of Del are you from ?

Hi, Bill here. My offer of a test drive still stands as I PM'ed to you. Stop by after work...its on the way home. We are open until 6. If that doesn't work, I'll be there from 9-6 on Saturday as well. As I said, I have an open order to go in next week's cycle too.

Ok....I'm SOLD!

BIG THANKS! to Number 9 I got to check out an SS up close and personal.

He has an IBM 2SS/RS L99 with polished wheels and factory white stripes. His is an RP6 order and had about 8,100 miles on it.

At 6' 5" – 270 lbs I fit in it well. I usually wear a 34” – 36” long pants and typically look for a XXL large shirts to accommodate my long arms and I actually had to move the seat up some but did have to have it as low to the ground as I could. The car didn’t have a sunroof and my head did not touch the roof. Unfortunately I didn’t think to see how much more room was above me nor did I check to see if I could put my arm up on the door ledge (too busy taking it all in). My wife (at 5' 4"), on the passenger side, couldn’t see the road in front of her but she could see out and around her. She said she would prefer a little height in the seat but it was no deal breaker by any means. She wasn’t just starring at the dash. When she sat in the driver’s seat she could adjust the seat up to see just fine. Hopefully the passenger side height adjustment will be addressed by the time I get my hands on a Camaro.

I can see where the blind spot on the right side could be an issue for some people but I guess I’m used to using my mirrors because I didn’t seem to have any issues with it.

Power was definitely nice. I didn’t stomp on it or anything but did give a half throttle here and there. Glad I got to hear one with some MagnaFlows on it. I might have to go with a competition/no muffler version. The cabin is so quiet you need some extra noise to hear the beautiful sounding engine. Flowmaster is supposed to release their system within a couple weeks so I’ll have to hear that one. I’m typically a Flowmaster Delta 40/American Thunder type person. This car already had a tune done so the shifts we hard and to the point. I’m sure this will kill the average Mustang or Challenger.

I would consider the Camaro a 3 seater. You can move the passenger seat forward and an average adult in the front and rear would be a little cramped but should still make it for some in town driving (don’t think I would want to make any long distance trips like that). However, two of my kids should fit just fine. On in the front with it scooted up and on in the back. Now, behind the driver’s seat….pretty much no one is going there unless you are 5’ 6” or under and can handle driving with the seat moved up.

Of course I wish I had more time than I did but I had a great opportunity that a lot of others that order this car (including Number 9) get before throwing down $35k+ on this car they don’t get to check out.

I’ll probably be putting the wheels in motion to get a deposit down on one next week but with the SS constraints and my dealer’s allocation I’ll probably be March/April before I actually get my hands on one.

Now the decision on which color??? ABM or RJT…….RJT or ABM???

Sorry for the long post but I had to tell someone….

When I went to the dealer i bought from they did not have any in yet, mine was their first. I wanted to talk about ordering and i did, but they were getting the one i bought within a week, so we began talking about it and i decided to buy. Then after i had mine I went to another dealership in my other car and were looking at the one they had and they didnt even come over and talk to us. I heard from other people that went there they got the same treatment. When i had went to this dealer to talk about ordering i would've been 36 on their list and they didnt know when they were gonna be taking orders (supposedly). Oh well the one they got was a 2lt i think because it had leather seats. I liked it but i liked mine better color wise.

I couldn't even find a dealer that had one, forget them allowing a test drive. I rented an IOM SS from Avis and it had like 20 miles on it so I think I was the first rental on that one. Drove it around quite a bit, put the kids in the back and headed to laguna beach, and decided to order an SS.

The only negative experience from the rental was lack of vision, you need to be careful and really use both the rear view and side mirror turning your head and looking aruond doesn't cut it. Darn near got in an accident because I changed lanes and didn't see somebody on the way back to the rental place.

Also head room is an issue with the sunroof, if they won't let you drive it ask to sit in it and it doesn't really matter how tall you are it's your torso height, check that out before ordering a sunroof.

Handles well, plenty of get up and go, love the remote start on the auto, stereo was decent, love the IOM and RJT and how it changes in different lighting. It was a real head turner, every where we went people were running up to us and asking questions.

I went to the dealer in June to see and sit in the camaro. They were one of the few dealers that had on on site. When they asked if I wanted to drive it, of course I said YES. I think I was sold as soon as the engine was turned on. I ordered a few days later.

A dealer here in Miami was going to let me test drive the Camaro SS for $200.. I laughed at that one. His excuse for not letting me sit in it was worse.. THe car was sitting outside and he said we keep the doors shut so as not to let the bugs in..lol.. THe car was marked up $10,000 over MSRP as well for the V6..

No test drives here either. I did get to sit in one. I came from the world of sportbikes so this was nothing new to me. However the dealer ordered the car preapproved all my financing and when the car came in he let my wife and I take it out for an hour or so before actually signing for it but as expected as soon as we got back and I said where do I sign

Dealer I went threw had 2 one auto 2lt and one 6m 2ss back in may. They let me Test drive the 2lt the only one they were allowing to serious buyers. I came back 3 days later to order my 1ss, and after I gave them a 3k check they tossed me keys to a 2ss. I didn't take it out. I didn't want to change my order and get a 2ss.

I ordered mine in May, and my dealer let me test drive a 1SS 6M two weeks before my L99 arrived (Aug. 24th), just to make sure I liked it, and let me tell you I likey.
