I think this is to be some what expected with auto workers. Plants seem to be always on the move, it's not the stability it was 30+ years ago. The unions have helped put that in place by getting a little ridiculous hear and there (and this is coming from a union shop steward)

I am not in a union but chemical plant workers (I am chemical engineer) belong to unions. A bunch of great guys but some of the union work rules I find to be silly, they think so too and most of this has to do with inefficiency. |

With the experience of buying two Camaros off of that line, I would not hesitate to buy another car made there.
Some of the other factories- I'd have my doubts. Best of luck to the Oshawa team, and thanks for building one helluva car. |

It's sad and we all go through it but GM should be helping them get jobs if not with GM somewhere else. Everyone will stand tall as we all do through any and everything. Thanx to all ! Hard work pays off , so they will be fine.

Well the unions started as part of the communist movement.......it is a political interest organization so inefficiency is the game. I see them back down all the time from things they shouldn't due to there own political reasonings out here with the casinos. I see both sides to it. I see the need to "protect" workers from company's to a degree, but it seems you don't get much help unless you fall into a minority class. But they also need to run their cooperation as well. People are waking up though and realizing the union has sold them down the river with their healthcare. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at one quarterly meeting when they said they messed up and where considering supporting republican candidates. The union dose a lot of stupid shit out here but I have also seen a lot of stupid crap the casinos tried to pull over shut down.

Considering my family has owned 3 5th gens with zero problems, it saddens me that GM isn't going to immediately give the workers a new car to build. More than happy with the build quality from the Canadian plants, and would happily buy later model Camaro's in the future from the Canadian plant if they chose to go back.
It is the nature of manufacturing though, it is unfortunate, but I think everyone at that plant had to know this would happen. |
