I mention that so you know where I'm coming from. The Z/28 looks killer, I lust for the LS7 and I'm of the opinion it will be a valuable car some day. On the other hand it is slower and less comfortable than my ZL1 and has a one speaker sound system. Once I have an LPE 700 done to my car it will be a great drag car, great driver and good track car. IMO the better (useful) car BUT I still would like a Z/28

Love them both
That car has the 1 option available on the Z/28, A/C and 7 speaker sound system. I think comfort might be in personal preference. I've driven halfway cross country, and have daily driven the car for a month now. It's not a difficult daily driver at all. I would agree, the ZL1 is a good compromise for all things.

I'm just messing around. It makes no difference in my case. I always say buy what you want and enjoy your car.

The ZL1 back in the day was a big ass high HP motor. That's why they named the car ZL1. Because it is the high HP top dog. I think the Z/28 is a cool car, but it isn't what I want in a Camaro. The ZL1 is. You know the old saying. There is a seat for every butt. The gen 6 car already spanks all the 5th gens for me, including the Z/28, because it looks better and has a nicer interior. New models should be improvements over the old or it's a fail. Not everyone cares about $10,000 brakes and how well a car can do a road course. And it looks like the ones that do already bought one by the looks of seeing these deep discounts.

They named it ZL1 because it couldn't live up to the Z/28 name, http://jalopnik.com/why-chevy-built-...ama-1445804721 the original ZL1 was a NA 427, I've read a lot over the years, and just as back in the day, today's ZL1 is a beast, no doubt about it. The 6th Gen is going to turn many a 5th Gen owner, with the new styling and interior, it's not too bad. Personally I think the styling is off, but love the interior.

I still believe that Chevrolet should have made the 1LE the Z28 model. Then have broke out the big brakes, LS7, no creature do-dads for the Z/28 model. We may not see another Z/28, as I believe the current Z was a flop, having not sold them all without such deep discounts.

Yea I really don't care so much as well. I just never had the need to say that the ZL is a better car or better camaro (well....I think I did say that earlier..oh well). More features, maybe; I always say that a car has to fit the image that the owner sees of it. People should be happy with the car of their choice. If its a v6 Camaro, good; If its a Z28...its still good.

To confirm, you do not understand the cost basis of where a Z/28 is derived from. Got it.

I'll ask again, what is your magic price for a new Z/28 since it "costs too much" ?

If I didn't have my car, I would jump on the Z/28 at the low price. A bare bones n/a 427 factory Camaro is something special imo and will be a collectible in the future.

Just answer the $64,000 question that no one in plain english has asked yet. Why do ZL1 guys come to the Z/28 section so often? I haven't been to the ZL1 section one time since joining here since I've never had any interest in them.

All we see is ZL1 guys telling everyone why they think their car is better and the Z/28 isn't worth the money blah blah blah. Yet I guarantee none of them besides Urbanlegend has ever driven one.

Really?! His posts make perfect sense to me... Let me help you.

He's saying that at these prices, the parts alone are worth more than what you'd be paying for the car. Never mind the exclusivity and future value.

His question is, "how much lower would the price have to be before buying a Z/28 'makes sense' to you"?

Here, this will make you ZL1 guys feel better........

A guy in the camaro club I belong to had the opportunity to buy a Z/28 during Chevy's 20% off campaign back in 2014. He was going to trade his ZL1 in.

After driving the Z/28 he decided he liked the creature comforts of his ZL1 better and declined the deal.

To each their own. Personally I don't care about creature comforts unless it's a daily driver. The 69 SS I owned for 5 years didn't have a radio. The sound of the cammed engine was all the music I needed.

I have never turned the radio on in my 2015 Z/28, but I do like my optional A/C......a must have in Arizona.

The OP ask a question about the Z/28 because he noticed them dropping in price. If he didn't put it in the Z/28 section he would have gotten condemned for that and it would have gotten moved there anyhow. For me, I don't even look at what section a thread is in when a topic interest me. I didn't know that there was specific criteria for someone to post in a specific section. Can you point those rules to me? I'll follow them if there is any. These are all mostly opinions and you obviously have a strong passion for the Z/28. That's great. It was built for people like you. But for many of us, it isn't the car for them and these prices dropping on the left overs will most certainly stir up conversation as to why if not prove some valid observations. I don't ever need to drive one to know it isn't the car for me. There is enough information out there for me to see I don't want what it offers. That doesn't mean I think it's a bad car. Just enjoy your and don't get upset that not everyone's opinion is not in line with yours.

I have never even looked at the ZL1 forum because I have no interest in the car and I don't feel a need to justify my choice to buy a Z/28 to guys that don't really care.

I drove a ZL1 before I bought my Z/28 and was completely underwhelmed by the experience. I've tried to be polite and diplomatic in the past and say it's a great car, but my real opinion is that it's not. The difference is, I don't find it necessary to go on the ZL1 forum to express that opinion.

I know that you guys CAN pollute these threads, I just don't know why you DO...

I hop into the Z/28 forums often, never had a negative thing to say at all. There are quite a few of us ZL owners that participate without negativity. There are the few odd threads that turn into one's like this but that is everywhere. If I could afford to I would pick up a 28 as well, but I can't. Well at least not without some family issues.

They are both fantastic cars to me.
