People confuse the Chryslers with the 4th gen because Chrsyler ripped off the Camaro front end.

You can say want you want about the Mustang, but if it wasn't for the Mustang there wouldn't be a Camaro. It happened in '67 and it's happened again.

I'm not a big fan of the Mustang and wouldn't buy one, but I'm happy for the competition that gets the ball rolling on cars like the Challenger and the Camaro. It raises the bar on expectations and forces each company to do more and do it better.

We muscle-car fanatics gotta stick together while the fun and the fantasy lasts because eventually common-sense, good reasoning, and economic reality will prevail and the car buying public will be left with nothing but their Hondas and Buicks.

We lucky Camaro owners, in the meantime, will still be prowling the streets in our beasts and the sight of a Mustang will cause a brief quickening of the heartbeat.

So let's not be too hard on the Mustangs and be glad that there will always be a few around to toy with.

Is there any way to find out the production numbers for the Aqua Blue Camaros?

We must be just about to the end of their production.

?? I dont think anyone could possibly confuse a 4th gen w/ a Ferrari. Not a fan of the molded plastic looking front and rear, yuck.

Just divided up in the States that's only 400 units per state on average.
You're missing all the Provinces and Territories in Canada, bub.

Back then, who wants to buy a pitiful 300hp Mustang when you can buy a 400hp Camaro for the same price? Even if you like the look of the Mustang, you will definitely feel the inferiority of the numbers. It's a no-brainer for me because of the numbers, regardless of the fact that I prefer the Camaro styling.

Styling is subjective so there's no point arguing saying one is better than the other.

I for one am glad that Mustang is going to be 400hp. Competition means the 2012 Camaro will be even better!!
Umm how does the 2011 Mustang GT look better on paper when all you know for a fact is that it has less hp still?

Ive said it before and I will say it again, 20" wheels add weight. Brembos add weight. Airbags add weight. Body reinforcements add weight.

It doesnt look better on paper because it doesnt exist on paper to the public.

Plus the wheels look like barbie mustang wheels and the rear end is still atrocious.

I was wondering this myself. With everything they're adding to the 2011 to handle the extra hp, the extra weight is going to narrow the gap to the Camaro (weight wise). I'm really looking forward to seeing the numbers on it when they come out. The look, however, isn't aggressive enough for me (it's "so cute!" <--- my wife's words, verbatim) I find that while the Camaro's interior is a little sparse, the exterior rules! The 'stang needs a complete redo on it's @$$, IMO. I'm not buying the Camaro for the interior, though. I'm buying it for performance, attitude and that rush of adrenaline whenever I look at it. I want people to move out of the passing lane when I approach. In my test drives, they did in droves. Not so with the GT.

I like the competition, though. It'll keep GM on edge enough to plan ahead. So I nod to the Mustang owners and give them a thumbs up.

Z28 anyone?

I can't believe how the 2010 has turned me into a Camaro fanatic. My family is just shaking their heads. Until now, my "habit" was gaming (uber computers). NOW, I've got a spreadsheet outlining my mods on my car (when it comes in) for next year. Wild!

My wife just laughs and says I'm married to Camaro5, for the amount of time I spend on here reading, taking notes and researching.

Yes, it is FANTASTIC news that so many Camaros are being sold! Crush, crush, crush!!! I personally am thrilled because Camaros will soon be more plentiful than Mustangs, which will reduce the Camaro's value. Should be able to pick up a 2010 2SS for around $20,000 (or LESS!) in a year or two and that's when I'll add it to my collection of awesome muscle cars.

Man, I sure love the new muscle car war! Getting to see more Camaros than Mustangs on the road will be great, they really are beautiful!!! Actually, they're all beautiful.

Why buy a 2010 when ya can wait a few months and get a more powerful and (hopefully) more efficient engine?
I asked this same question to my co-worker who drove my car and thought it was so much faster and "cooler" than the new Mustang. But, what did he do? He went out and bought a new Mustang GT for himself and a V6 Stang for his wife. I was like..."WTF???" He said the Camaro was better, was cooler, what gives???

My co-worker said he bought the Mustang because he's always wanted one. He has a pic of himself as a boy standing next to his moms Stang and it really meant a lot to him. He said he's always been a Ford fan at heart. But, the question remained. Why buy now when you could get the bigger, better, probably more efficient engine in the 2011 model?

His answer?

"I plan on trading mine in."

He's going to lose so much money on this deal.

He already got his Mustang for something like $3,500 off. There's no way in hell he's going to get what he's going to want for his current new Stang. I told him this. He said, "my salesman said he'd work it out for me." Double...

Of course he will...he's going to poke him hard...

?? What kind of "non car person" buys a muscle car?

I mean what person would pay 2010 GT prices to get the same power and probably less performance and handling than the 2011 V6?
Read above...

Besides having a V8, they are completely different vehicles..I'm not sure where you're making a connection there. (by the way, I'm a fan of the 4th gen)

You're of course, entitled to your opinion...but 6 straight months of sales domination against two competitors...and double the sales of Mustang in November? I would think pent-up demand would have been exhausted in the first few months.

And I don't know where to start on your comment about GM's act when building this car. I think you're ignoring a LOT of facts surrounding the development to say something like that.

The Camaro may not maintain a sales leader crown; I agree with you on that. But I think it's fully competitive, and they're not done with the car by any means. The road ahead is bright...and will be interesting!!

GM needed to do more with this car than they did. Better performance is not going to do it. Some people are just interested in a nice car.
Cheers.
Funny you should mention this. My wife waited a long time for the Camaro to return and was going to buy the 2SS - until she got in one. She ended up buying the Mustang.

For muscle cars, my personal preference is:
1) Camaro
2) Challenger
3) Mustang

For my wife:
1) Mustang
2) Camaro
3) Challenger

Interesting...

The 'stang has a "few" years on the Camaro, so it'll be awhile before this happens, if ever. The demand for the 2010 Camaro is still very high, though, and the convertible isn't even out yet! I see a price drop in four years or so, before the updated version comes out.

From what CamaroScotty has said, prices look to be going UP in January.

Not Sure if this has been posted, but Camaro could take out Mustang for the year with only 8 full months of sales! Nice!

Through Nov 2009,

Mustang: 60,099 Units Sold
Camaro: 54,100 Units Sold
