As the 2010 Camaro pushed Ford to make changes for the better on the Mustang, the 2011 Mustang will do the same for the Camaro. In the end we are just brothers and sisters enjoying the muscle car wars of our area.

With all that out of the way, CAMARO IS #1!!!!!
This post nails it! You have to have competition to be the best and, more importantly, to get better. I hope ALL three continue to do well and get better, then I can sit on the sidelines and decide when to upgrade or what mods I need to beat the crap out of the next Horse or Mopar.
It works for everyone, not just in cars. Look around at anyone or anything with no competition and tell me how much they improve year over year? Is Wal-Mart any better than it was five years ago, unless it is a new store it is probably worse.
Look at the US when we were in the cold war? Now look at us, bowing to Kings and Terrorists and letting the Chinese OWN us, it is sad...but real. Everyone needs competition. And yes - every good guy needs a bad guy..........

To me it's all about personal choice! It doesn't matter if you a Camaro lover or a Mustang lover or even a Challenger lover ... what really matters is that they're ALL North America Sports Cars, built here in OUR Wonderful Countries ( :flag1: ), by people who take pride in building the BEST for us!

Each day as I drive my Camaro SS and see either a Mustang or Challenger drive up ( or by ) we always end up waving to each other as a means of for after all, we are all friends in the end and that's what really matters to me!

With that said the 2011 Mustang is going to give the Camaro a run for it's money and then some.
Looking forward to the competition!

In Canada, at this very moment, there are FEWER than 300 TOTAL CAMAROS in Dealer Inventory...

Non-Demos...

Non-"SOLD"...

So yeah, where are they?!

You have a vein showing on your forehead.

The excuse back then was the Camaro was superior in every way on paper. With the 2011 Mustang coming out, Camaro won't be on top any more on paper. Back then, who wants to buy a pitiful 300hp Mustang when you can buy a 400hp Camaro for the same price? Even if you like the look of the Mustang, you will definitely feel the inferiority of the numbers. It's a no-brainer for me because of the numbers, regardless of the fact that I prefer the Camaro styling.

Styling is subjective so there's no point arguing saying one is better than the other.

I for one am glad that Mustang is going to be 400hp. Competition means the 2012 Camaro will be even better!!

Ditto. But I will say the dealership I purchased mine from has three (2- SS's and 1- RS) on the lot, not sold. If you count the number "ordered and not delivered" plus the allocation each dealer may receive in North America it's not an unimaginable number. Just divided up in the States that's only 400 units per state on average.

I like the looks and performance of the Camaro a lot. However, having said that, I fear for sales down the road. We have had a pent-up demand by the Camaro enthusiasts driving sales. In a year or two that will dry up and sales will be subject to the whims of the general public. Look at the 4th generation compared to the Stang. Better looking, better engine, transmission, suspension, performance and yet the Mustang outsold the Camaro and Firebird together. Why? The average person looks at the practical side of things. The Camaro seat was too low, car too long, couldn't see the fenders from the driver's seat. How many sales were lost when the wife complained of the cat hump in the passenger floor? The Mustang was a known quantity and many didn't even know of the Camaro when they went shopping. ( marketing or advertising problem? ). I had someone stop me and ask if my '95 Camaro was a Ferrari. It had those killer looks.

I can see the past repeating with GM. You may love the interior, but the average buyer will think it ugly and too retro. Those guages on the console are in the wrong place he will say. Visibility out the back is poor. You don't mind, but John Q Public does and he is spending his money. It also helps Mustang was first and is the car they think of when someone mentions Pony car. GM needed to do more with this car than they did. Better performance is not going to do it. Some people are just interested in a nice car.

I sure hope I am wrong. But I see the same fate awaiting the 5th gen as happened to the last generation. Gradual falling off of sales over the next few years till another shut down.

You may have faith in GM but not me. They still don't have their act together in spite of great new products, as witness recent developments. Same old attitude pervades upper management.

Sorry to be so negative. I really like the car. Just my views.

Cheers.

?? Heh...

You know how many people confuse a 4thgen with a Chrysler Concord? How many comments I've heard about it looking like guppy? Or just plain ugly? The 5thgen is NOT the 4th gen. Besides having a V8, they are completely different vehicles..I'm not sure where you're making a connection there. (by the way, I'm a fan of the 4th gen)

You're of course, entitled to your opinion...but 6 straight months of sales domination against two competitors...and double the sales of Mustang in November? I would think pent-up demand would have been exhausted in the first few months.

And I don't know where to start on your comment about GM's act when building this car. I think you're ignoring a LOT of facts surrounding the development to say something like that.

The Camaro may not maintain a sales leader crown; I agree with you on that. But I think it's fully competitive, and they're not done with the car by any means. The road ahead is bright...and will be interesting!!
