doesn't matter my statement was 93 won't get you any more power than 91. In CA the pumps have the octane rating on them, or they say supreme which means 91. If in texas they say premium is either 91 or 93 then my statement still applies, 91 or 93 won't make a difference. However if they give you no choice then I guess it's random pot luck what you get, if so I would find a station that lets you know what you are putting in the car.

In Lubbock gas can be 2.61 a gallon for 91 octane, and back home (Refugio) it can be the same, lower, or higher. I was meaning that 93 shouldn't run you a higher price unless the pump contains BOTH 91 and 93 octane. You're talking about performance, I'm talking about price. |

if 93 is the same price then I would definitely look into a dyno tune and have it tuned for 93. Not sure if anybody has run dyno comparisons between the same car tuned for 91 and a car tuned for 93 and see what the difference is. I wish we had 93 out here then I would put it in my car and get it tuned for it. We have 100 but only in rare stations so it's not something you could easily find.

The manual has a section about gas, and it says to use the top tier brands with the good additives/detergents, and it gives that lik to the toptier web site listing. |

It's funny how people are all into "brands" of gasoline. Like everyone on here, posting what they put in their tank, is a 100% certified octane/additive/refinery process/mechanical engineer.

I may not be a certified 100% octane/additive/refinery process/mechanical engineer but I have worked for a major oil company for 25 years and while part of the statements by CWIweldace,BlaSSt off and BOOTZILLA may be true there are some facts in this thread. If the town you live in only has one distribution terminal then all of the gas comes from there with a proprietary additive package for each "Brand" and there is a huge difference in Major Brand additves and generic brand additives. If you live in a town like San Antonio,Dallas, Houston then there are several different distribution terminals and the Brand you buy comes from that terminal. By contract major brand stations cannot buy branded gas from any terminal other than the brand they sell. The Unbranded stations and Big Box stations buy based on price and it may come from any of the terminals but still have the same generic additive. It all boils down to this... Buy from a Major Brand and you will get a better additive package, more of it and a better refined base product.

I believe it. Now when you get the chance, can you explain the differences between the top 5 name brands? - Pros & Cons of each, and the benefits of the additives that are added to each. Thanks!

I know pretty much every Shell station in my area and that's my #1 choice but wouldn't hesitate to put Chevron/Texaco or Sunoco in if traveling out of town. |

Arco as it's 30 cents cheaper than most stations around here.
