My 08 C6 z51 bonestock ran 11.80@119. My 2010 SS w/ headers, CAI, tune went 12.2@113. Still haven`t caught it...:( My wife drives our vette mostly. She likes to remind me hers is faster...

2009 would be a watershed year for Corvette with the introduction of the ZR1. It was a watershed all right, as the worldwide economic meltdown brought GM to its knees, culminating in its bankruptcy filing on June 1, 2009. Thanks in no small part to its status as one of GM’s premier products and a proven moneymaker, Corvette has survived. It did take a 48% sales hit, making 2009 the lowest production Corvette since 1997. And 1997 didn’t suffer from lack of demand, but from the late and slow rampup of that all-new model. Excluding 1997, one has to go back to 1962 for lower volume.

The vette is still the class of Chevy. The camaro is one hell of a car but it's not a vette, never will be.

I'll stick with my camaro though

When the economy was bad and gas prices high we almost bought into the HYBRID treehuggin thing and then ..... i snapped out of it and bought the vette. almost the same if not better gas mileage as the hybrids but its able to get on the onramps without any problems. The corvette is by far the most bang for the buck. Our camaro is a great car as well, just differant. We will buy another vette when this one gets worn. but we will also keep the camaro(TO MANY MODS)

Anyone know how vette sales are doing?
An equally-equipped Corvette starts at 54k vs the 34k for a 1SS...so it's not that big a difference.

But anyways...the Corvette appeals to a very different audience, and it not meant to sell in Camaro-sized numbers...In fact, it already sells at more than double the volume of its nearest competitor...AND at a profit. The Corvette is perfectly fine, if not just a touch old.

My dad's owned 5 Corvettes (C3, 3 C5's, and a C6). He sold his C6 in 06-07 (can't remember) when he started playing gigs again in a local band and regretted it. He started to get to the point of wanting another Vette and we decided to go to a local dealer to look at one. By just dumb luck there was a VR LT2 pulling out of the make ready and both our jaws dropped - that was the first Camaro either of us had seen in person. We started talking and he came to that realization - same power plus 2 seats, $10 grand less, and unique. He ordered his 2SS soon after and still says it's the best car he's ever owned.

Nice car but I would have to argue the MPG vs a hybrid. Also it's spelled "different" not differant.

i was debating on a '10 ss or a c5z i went along with the camaro just b/c of curiousity and a more practical dd in my eyes anyway. but i will make it a point to buy one for my next car. id even go with a nice regular c5 if i wanted to mod it some (which i will) but by then i could probably get my hands on a c6z for the price of how much the c5's are going now

Good to see some fellow car nuts

I'm sure you'll say I truly qualify. I prefer my Vette over the Camaro. Even though the Vette is 33 years older than the Camaro, it retains superior handling capabilities, refined good looks and is just a blast to drive on a hot summer day down a curvy country road with the t-tops off. Come on summer time!

I don't know know you but $20k is a big difference.. for me anyway.. But if it's money you can gat a new SS or a used Vette..for the same money.. I see alot of people on here saying if they had the $ they'd get the Vette.
