search for user JDPMotorsports on here. His name is Jordan...hopefully he is still active on here because he is very helpful and would be able to give you and answer concerning any differences with those two mufflers soundwise. I believe he also represents magnaflowplus.com and he may even give you a discount code if you ask!

I'd stick with the oval body muffler as opposed to the round style....again it is all opinion, but from what your saying I'd stick with what your looking into.

One plus with the magnaflows is almost always a guaranteed nice low tone at cruising speeds with very minimal rasp...so don't worry about that.

I'm guessing you've seen the reference video of the Yellow V6 I mentioned in my threads before....if you like that sound (bit more aggressive than mine) I'd try just the mufflers and tips first. If you want it mellower, softer, or less drone after that then install the resonated X.

I hope this helps and don't hesitate to keep the questions comming if you have more!
Thanks again. Yeah, after your last post and another review of the yellow video you looked at, I decided to do just the muffler swap for now. If needed, I can add that Xpipe (or other stuff I dont know about yet) later like you said.

I did a quick search about center vs offset and sound on google earlier, most responses were on truck forums, and most said that it doesn't affect tone, it's just for fitment ease. I've sent the info to a shop I was recommended to, so I'll let them tell me which one will be easier for them to install before I buy.

I'll shoot JDM a PM before I buy for sure, thanks for the tip there.

Well I could make one but I have the magnaflow resonated xpipe too. I was waiting on headers to make a video as I think that is what is going to complete my exhaust note package. But if you are interested I could get some revs for you tomorrow I wouldn't have drive by ability though. I will be honest my sound is very mild right now I think the headers will get me where I want to be.

It sounds very nice, and different from all of the others I've listened to.

I have his exact mufflers, but he has no X pipe like I do.

Anyways, I'm happy now and stickin with it!
Now do you recommend the x pipe or not. thanks.

Honestly, I can't say. I'd like to take off my resonated X once just to see what the sound difference is, and what the difference with the in-cabin drone is. I've heard sometimes the drone with the magnaflows and no resonated X is just too much to bear (why I'm scared to take it off) but then again the owner of the car in the video above told me the drone was not bad.

Anymore, I always tell people looking at this setup to go without the resonated X first. if the drone is too bad, then add the resonated X, but expect the tone to be a bit less aggressive and more smooth like mine.

I'm thinking of deleting the stock resonators too. Not sure when I'll get around to that lol.

for what it is worth I did the exaust first. It did have some pretty steady drone around 2k. It wasn't bad and I really didn't mind it that much. I then put the res x in place of the stock res. The car really quieted down inside and outside the car. Now with the LT's and no cats the car is almost to where it was with just the exhaust being replaced, but a little less drone inside and a little louder outside. I hope that makes sense it did in my head anyway

Makes sense!

I just need to try something and see how it goes. Not that I haven't spent enough money on the Camaro lately (just did Hertiage grill with street scene lower grill), but hey its a blast lol.

OK, so for those that don't know, I've been deliberating over what exhaust setup to get for a very long time. So much so that I put together the V6 exhaust sticky thread on the home page of this V6 section. Watching all those videos and reading every thread made it worse on me.

So without boring you all on why I made the decision I did, I finally went with a custom magnaflow setup. Mufflers (# 11235), a resonated X-pipe (# 11385), and 4" double walled tips (# 35177). The X may not have been needed, but I wanted to do all I could to avoid as much drone and rasp as possible, and I think I've accomplished that goal.

I'm very happy with my new sounds, and with only about 100 miles on them now, they should hopefully get a tad better over time. This system has a really nice low, smooth tone from initial RPMs through the 3500 RPM range...and from there the highs of the V6 start comming through again, but still not like stock and there is barely any rasp during reving...dare I say no rasp under a load. In cabin sounds wonderful (v8-like) and I experienced almost no drone. Only a few times during my hour trip home did I experience what I consider to be a little drone, around the 71 - 73 MPH speeds, but its not bad and didn't seem to be consistent. Again, this could change over time. Its not real loud, which is what I wanted, but noticeable over stock. My ONLY negative (well, cant really say its a negative) is that I was thinking I'd get a bit more burble/snarl/growl in the upper rpms, but its just smooth. Wouldn't mind a bit more rumble.

In the end I feel I got a system equal to, or very near the cat-back kit Magnaflow offers, for 4 to 5 hundred less than retail. I have to give a shout out to Rods muffler shop in Union Missouri for doing a quality job at a great price, not to mention being friendly people. They'd copy my setup for around $650. Subtract the X and your looking at closer to $500 - $550. (get cheaper tips than I did and that'd help to lol)

Check out some install pics and a youtube video below. As always, sound is always better in person, but if you happen to have a nice PC sound system, or good headphones this isn't bad. Thanks to everyone, cause honestly lots of people helped me out with what I wanted.

Out back:

Added: 5-11-2010. In Cabin video. Think this turned out pretty good. Gives ya a nice idea of the sounds, cept for two differences I've noticed. If you have a good PC sound system (with woofer) or headphones you may notice a couple spots that sound a bit "boomy" at times...that tone is there in real life, but I think the mic amplified it a bit. The other thing is that it didn't seem to pick up the sound as good as I'd hoped over 3,000 + rpms, but oh wells, what can ya do!

I believe he kept them.

On a side note I had an AirRaid intake, and switching to the Vararam added a very healthy amount of growl to my exhaust note that I've wanted.

But as I mentioned before, I'm looking into deleting either my stock resonators, or leaving those and deleting my rear magnaflows (I'll hold on to them in case I ever get Long tubes)

Oh yeah...if you listen to my vids...it is the same setup as the Yellow Camaro in the video but with a resonated X pipe (and diff tips). You can tell the difference. It is louder than stock for sure and has a nice low tone that I like a lot (actually, I'd say the same tone as the yellow Camaro)...but the resonated X plus the rear mufflers just really makes it silky smooth with no growl. Some people may like that, but I'm looking for more growl which is why I intend on tweaking my setup.

I'd of done it a long time ago, I'm just fearing I'll gain un-wanted drone. It has always sounded good in the cabin though, and now with the VR intake it is friggin awsome inside the cabin.
