I wonder if there is an update for the tranny that would allow the lower vins to do this? or is that what orange was talking about? is there a thread that talks about all of the updates for the cars by VIN? I suck at searching.

It's late here, but I just checked in before bed....my Mom is yelling for me to turn my laptop off. Oh, that's my wife .

There was a re-flash update that came out about the 1st of the year. The flash addressed the issue of the A/C freezing up under certain conditions. No one has mention that the update did anything to the tranny... but I swear I noticed a diffence and I read people debating the AFM in M mode. Prior to the update the AFM was very aggressive in the M mode and could only be avoided by keeping the RPM's up in each gear.

My AFM does not come on when in M mode...... awesome find while taking a 3 hour highway drive, with GMPP axle back just added, AFM drone would make the rear view mirror vibrate and bring on a headache very quickly. Go into sport mode, downshift to 5th gear then back to 6th..... no more AFM! Also seems to keep AFM off during city driving.

Mine is #80784. Build on Dec 22nd 2009. Maybe they added it somewhere in between. You could try asking your dealer to find out if there are any software updates for your car. One of them might have added this feature.

He was referring on it's own ... The V8 will only go to 2nd and the V6 to 1st.

I tried this and it did not work. I must use the shifter to go back to "D: then back to "M". I have an R6P and it has been in for service so I assume that they downloaded any updates. Mine is an L99, so I wonder if this is a six cylinder only thing, or a later model update.
