I had mine tuned out with a custom tune. I couldn't stand the AFM either.

Louder Exhaust on Camaros with Manual Trans

I rented a Camaro 2SS with auto trans back in November 2009 for a week while on vacation in Los Angeles, California. Enjoyed the car so much that I purchased one in March of 2010 but I went with the standard manual trans and saved the $1,185 upcharge for the optional auto trans. One thing I noticed is that the rental Camaro exhaust with the auto trans was a lot quieter than my Camaro with the manual trans. Definitely like the louder exhaust at lower cost. My personal preference is manual transmission because it's more fun to drive, gives you more control of the car, requires more of your attention, increased longevity over an auto trans & gives better gas mileage. I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a 6 speed manual transmission that has been maintenance free these last 15 years of owning it & driving it over 260,000 miles (with the exception of replacing a worn out clutch).

I took the Borlas off today and put the factory exhaust back on. My Victory Red 2SS is on its way to my dealer and I will pick it up on Friday.
I'm tired of explaining to everyone I know why I would trade in a new car because I didn't like the AFM. I bought the automatic because my Vette has the 6 speed and I just wanted a daily driver that I wouldn't have to shift gears.....I should have known about the AFM and the "live and Learn" saying is true!

Thanks again for all of the comments and ideas.......now I can get on with some serious muscle car driving!

Jennetty tuned mine out but it really didn't bother me.

Not sure about that...

If you get a cheap tune/tuner $300 bucks or less (i.e. Diablo Sport)... and never have to use the warranty (which is usually the case), then the Gas Guzzler Tax is more... also depending on where the Camaro would fall on the above chart.
