Service Stabilitrak message

Not sure if this will help, but just keep it mind to have it checked out next time at the dealer. I have been fighting the "Service Stabilitrak" light for about 11K miles or so. Just now starting to get to the bottom of it. One trip to the dealer, they discoverd that the wiring harness was partially unplugged, but the light came back on afterwards. Today, they discovered that the steering wheel angle sensor is bad. Hopefully, this will take care of the light. I have had it serviced numerous other times, but no real reason to the cause. A low voltage reading appeared one time doing the diagnostics, but the light continued to come on. So, I will coninue to take it to the dealer in hopes of finally eliminating all the possible causes. It just makes me wonder how many other things are partially unplugged or bad on the car.

Bump.! Ive had this problem for a year now first ECM was replaced, still happened tomorrow I'm getting a new tcm , hopefully that'll take care of it ,, did anyone ever figure out was the problem?

I've been dealing with this issue for a couple of years now... recently its been getting worse. It used to only pop the "Service Stabilitrak" light after restarting the car while the motor is still hot, but recently its been popping the light every time I start the car. It'll randomly go on and off, sometimes for a few seconds, other times for a few minutes. I've had the codes checked and its telling us theres a misfire in cylinder #6 but we cant seem to narrow down the exact problem. We have replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and installed a new coil, we also replaced the power and ground wires for the battery just to make sure that wasnt the issue. We're now starting to think theres something wrong with my tune, and I'm thinking about getting it redone this weekend. Anyone have any other ideas?

I would suggest going to a dealership for a diagnosis. They should be able to pinpoint this for you.

It seems as though when these cars have misfires, a side effect is that PCM goes nuts and issues seemingly unrelated faults like "Service Stabilitrack".

In my case, I had a spark plug wire that was seated all the way. The car ran like crap and every two minutes or so would issue the "Service Stabilitrack" message. Once I figured out the plug wire was loose, I seated the plug wire all the way, cleared the codes and the car has ran like a top since with no more warning messages.

Upon shutting my engine off and going into my house for 5 minutes I came back out started the engine and the Service Stabilitrak message came up and engine started to run terrible, like a few cylinders lost. The car shook unreal. Had chevy dealer take the car and later found out that a valve spring collapsed. Its still in the shop I guess we'll see what's up when they get it started. I'm concerned that the valve isn't damaged, maybe the piston may have damage. They claim the valve never (because) of clearance didn't touch the piston. Definitely a compression check is in order. Any thoughts????

I'm assuming things are fixed now. Since my 2010 is sounding just like your issue, I'm curious how things worked out for you. What actually broke, how extensive did the repair turn out to be?

This just happened to me the other day. I came to a stop sign right before an uphill street, and i stepped on it HARD, and this message popped up. I figured i must have messed something up, so I was kind of scared. Luckily, my house was right around the corner, so i just shut it off and decided to sleep on it. The next day it was gone and hasn't come up again. Should I take it to the dealer??

I've been having this off and on for about 6 months.. Attempted to tighten grounds and check plugs and it still randomly occurs maybe 2 times a month. I keep a wrench in the glove box lol, if it happens I stop and unhook the battery for about a minute which clears it.

If you have a warranty go to the dealer, I have an "extended warranty" that covers some electrical components but talking to 2 dealers sounds like I'd be in for an adventure trying to get that narrowed down and most likely they would attempt to charge for a bunch of uncovered things before even getting to covered electrical.

this just happened to me about 10 mins ago. 2010 v6...

I put in some gas additives last week and the car hasnt acted right since. I even said it yesterday "man this thing feels slower than usual. Ive got 60k miles.

Maybe I should replace the spark plugs? I didnt see any loose wires. Ill check the codes tonight...

ive had so many problems with this car :(

Since someone revived this dead thread, I'll add today that on my way home from work I did an accel from about 40 to 87 down a hill in third gear, didn't floor it, was more of a gradual pressure on the pedal and the service stabilitrak message and the three lights came on for about 15-30 seconds maybe. I just thought that was odd and started looking into it and found this thread.
