I hear ya, I also didn't cover putting the crank pulley back on cos.. well I've never done that part.
You don't have to do half that stuff though.. Cam shaft is a good bit longer than an oil pump. timing doesn't have to change, pump is outside of all that. |

Yeah, was just looking at the "getting to the oil pump" part!

If any of you fine gentlemen go to streetside, let me know your thoughts on that Chevelle. You guys are quite a bit closer than me, and seeing it in person probably beats seeing it over the internet like I am!!

Now I don't have a refrigerator magnet with me to check for excess bondo, and I'm not real sure what flaws you may be concerned with. @ $35k I'd assume it better be like a brand new 70 chevelle, unless the value of these cars has ballooned up and floated away from me. My dad sold his 65 for $5k a few years ago. edit: yea if they got the car there I could swing by after work. Hours: Monday - Friday: 9 AM to 6 PM EST I can take austell RD to get closer to thornton chevy and head north and it SHOULD be on the left if it's the building I think it is. edit edit: called and confirmed location and that car is available. Will go by after work. Only have an iphone 3g for photos, but I'll check it out for ya. let me know what specific areas you're concerned with. The car's an auto but I doubt at that price that they'd be up for a test drive unless you INSIST that I try, I don't plan to. Last edited by DarkFox1; 05-07-2012 at 08:50 AM. |

ok I'm going to keep posting on this.
I think they're high on their prices. that car may be perfect, I'll see this afternoon, but I spotted this car in the list: http://www.streetsideclassics.com/sh...olet--Bel-Air- see that? $20k for a 57 4 door? Look at the chassis.. it looks like my belair's chasis and I wouldn't price my 57 a dime above $10k if I had to sell it. I think they're charging a premium to consign these cars. Owner probably wants $15k for it, and they're marking it up. Also, that belair has a HIDEOUS interior, and lacks the options my car has. Harbor blue > larkspur blue all day lonng.. and everyone knows it! http://maps.google.com/maps?q=213+Th...247.5,,0,-1.11 that's the exterior of the building. It used to be something like atlanta auto brokers west, went under, was for lease for a long time. Salesman said he's been told that before but knew nothing about it. The guy sounded like a salesman.. (take that as you will.) Last edited by DarkFox1; 05-07-2012 at 09:24 AM. |

Well I am just concerned that it looks good on the internet, I have heard horror stories about switcheroos or photoshops.
I have been looking for a Chevelle for awhile, and this one is priced a little high, but it also looks to be very well done. Any thoughts or feelings you have would be appreciated, because I can't see it in person without spending 1000 bucks. |

Yea, I think this shop is a little high in general, but I'll go by and check it out for ya. The good thing for me is it's a full frame car which I'm more familiar with over subframes like the 1st gen camaros (well like all camaros really.. but I don't knmow the stresses that happen over time with a sub frame vs a full frame.)
Since I helped dad with his 65 I'm also familiar with the suspension setup that chevelles have, and I've always loved the 70 the most. My dad's dream car is a 67 SS 396 white/saddle. If I ever won the lotto I'd buy him one. But I can't even buy one for myself as is. I mean I COULD have.. but I bought my 5th gen instead heh. |

visiting parents this weekend so I can't go either. I'm on a diet but I think I'm gonna have some good ol carolina BBQ while I'm there. Ya know up this way they don't know how to make BBQ like they do in south carolina.
That mustard based sauce is hard to beat! Wanted to go last weekend but the dudes with the LQ4 didn't show up till midnight Friday. |
