When it comes to the A-body cars from 68-72 I have always liked the 68 and 69 GTo's the most because of the hide away headlights.

Those are all very nice cars you have posted up.

The last one, the '70 GS Stage 1, is originally from this rust-belt town, never ventured (ownership-wise) more than 50 miles from town. I bought it in late-'97 as essentially a rot-less "basket"...wrong engine, wrong color, ratty roof, drag raced within an inch of its life...but otherwise all there. Body-on. Done as a "Day 2 car"- magazine Project car for a mag that went t.u. before the story ran. There was one almost identical to it as one of the last TV cars to run last Sunday @ B-J. Runs 12's...

The White T/A...a story...

When I was living in Toronto, fall of '74, a west-end dealer had a former GM Exec Demo for sale: '74 Super Duty T/A, auto/air, poly-wheels, loaded. White w/White horsecollars and Blue graphics/carpet...pretty car! I ordered a '75 L82 Vette instead (for about the same money). Fast forward to '91, and the same color combo For Sale privately, 60 miles from Toronto...SAME CAR! On the verge of needing a refresh, summer-driven only, $7,000...I passed. And I've kicked myself more than once for doing that...

I don't think they are...though I've heard people say they find them real comfortable...the Recaros that come optional on the CTS-V seemed unbelievably supportive....but constricting (not knocking it for that). I wouldn't want to drive to the Fest with them, I guess is what it boils down to.

If they had been offered in the ZL1, I probably would have skipped them.

What works great in AutoCross, may not be so great in CrossCountry...

"One size fits some..." comes to mind.

You're right - they definitely have a purpose. I have yet to experience a better automotive seat than what's found in the Camaro. It's like a cloud....a thundercloud, in the case of the Z...but a cloud nonetheless.

If you guys don't mind, I want to express one of my gripes about seats. I miss the seat sizes we always got in the A body's from 66-70 or so~ Those buckets were awesome from a comfort standpoint. I can't find seats (like in the 66-70 GTOs, Chevelles, etc) in anything being built today. NADA. Not even a suburban. These small seats don't extend to the back of my knee like the bigger ones and long distance travel is truly painful. The small seats cut into the sciatic nerves, etc etc... OK.... back to your Recaros now.

My thighs are short enough where I can tilt the seats back & incline the back of the seat enough to support everything. I always tell people (several members of my family are HUGE) that I'm glad I stopped growing when I did...it means I can still fit into fast cars.

Seats are a compromise, one size fits all. Recaro does make (or used to) a small frame and large frame seat, but I doubt you'll be seeing it as an option in a production car.... ever.

Air bolsters do help.

FYI, I'm not overweight! I've just got long legs I guess. Amazing how you see all these stories about OBESE AMERICA ... how we are growing as a nation and how the seats are shrinking! I don't have sympathy for the overeaters, so they don't get to complain! I do, however! I see the new cars with WIDE consoles (miniature versions of the Hummer console) that are USELESS and it appears they made them wider to hold food etc (HAHA) but the seats are narrower and shorter. What cars have big seats? I did see ONE version of a Caddy CTS that had optional "seat extenders" the pull forward from the seat base. Was pretty good idea!
