I gave up a while back getting it looking "good." It's still a larger gap. But, I KNOW I can get it looking like it was meant to be stock.
Give me a few and I'll get it done. ...damnit....

![]() FYI, this pic was taken by me at INDY on a CTF car. This is the GM ABL on the dash they were going to do. It was not 100%....but, this is kinda the idea. |

Doug, from that pic, it looks like the GM version had the tube exposed at the top as well as the tube visible from the side.... how did they get the trim pushed back in so far?
I'm planning on cutting a groove into the dash on the D side behind the trim that the tube can recess into, hopefully being able to close the gap a bit. Id already sanded the paint off the top, trying to drop the tube behind, but currently, there's no getting it back there without modifying the trim or closing it without cutting the dash that I can find.

Why not try to heat up the tube? Heat it up and bend it? That part was flush with the car when I looked at it. It didn't stick out that I coudl tell. Then again, that was back in 2008. I'd just be careful about cutting the dash. maybe you can trim the back of the trim too?
Sorry about the quality of the pic too....they didn't know I was taking it. HA! |

I did a little already, its not just the angle, but the overall depth of the tube pushing the trim piece out. Depending on how brave I get, might end up carving down a little of each, tube, dash and trim. I just hate that huge driver side gap

Alright, so some trial and significant error, then, much like my Chiefs finally winning today, a light shone down from above and it clicked!
While trying to heat and bend the tube for the driver side, I snapped the tube! It still works, but you can definitely tell. Luckily, I had the original piece left over, its about 1/4" short, but its better than the other... I WAS heating the tube, bending it, then trying to fit it in the car... then rebending when the angle wasn't right. What worked- using a hair dryer and oven mits- holding the bar in place, using the hair dryer on hot-low, slowly moving the pressure finger the length of the tube, about 20 sec per inch. Let go and the bar conformed so well to the plastic, it actually held in place! The trim snapped back in place and cut my gap in about half! I no longer see the actual tube and the light reflects up through the gap and sanded area! I also used clear plastic tape instead of the plastic tubing to connect the led and light tube together, also cutting down the thickness. Finally, i'm content... ...for now

Mines fairly dim in the center as well, I ended up pushing the center up higher than the ends to equal it out. Looks fine at night, but in late evening hours the ends are rediculously brite, while the center is barely visible.

I taped over the ends to dim them. They look fine. And the center is held up as high as it'll go (with weather stripping) without the pipe showing. PMing Ofer now, maybe it's just a bad light pipe like he said.

*UPDATE* Definitely a bad light pipe. Ofer was kind enough to send me a new one and it looks perfect now. Very simple install. This is the only pic I have right now but I will post more later.
