Thanks for the help!
Get the no tune for now. You can always tune the no tune later on when adding the cam. Won't hurt a thing.

Good question though. And now that you have me worrying about it now, I'd like to know the answer.
The radiator barely moves. It is really not a problem. You don't even need those radiator bolts.

...and the rain? Don't worry about it. I have driven in several down pours with the unit on (anyone in our SA group remember a trip back from Valdosta???)...no problems. I drove in a good 45 min if not more of torrential down pour. Not an issue.

I wish I would have waited. I fell into that whole shoot out thing and bought the CAI and I hate it. Not worth $399 that is for sure. You did the right thing by waiting.

I have basically the same mods as you have. I ran the 1/4 mile last weekend and was a little disappointed with only a 12.7 at 110.5. I have a Vararam CAI. Did you have your car dyno tuned? Your ETs are awesome and I thought it must be the tune. Do you have dyno numbers? Thanks.

Why don't you like the CAI?

Bone stock, my car ran 13.55 at 102 MPH. When I added a K&N CAI and a Predator tuner and no other mods it ran 13.25 at about 103 MPH.

I added the Kooks headers, HF cats and SCT tuner with a Janetty email tune and ran the 1/8th mile 2/10s faster than my best prior 1/8th mile runs. I didn't run the 1/4 mile with this setup, but I ran a couple of hot weather 1/4 mile runs using my Vtech pro it registered a 12.95 with that setup.

I bought the new version Vararam and installed it and an Edelbrock Xpipe and ran it last weekend and my best ET was a 12.75 at 110.5 MPH. Weather was high 70s and very humid. I guess that's reasonable, since the Vararam makes only another 15HP over the K&N or thereabouts and I have no clue if the X pipe makes additional HP. With all of the mods, I have improved my ET by 8/10s and speed by 8+ MPH.

I don't know for sure, but after adding the X pipe and the Vararam, I think I should have a proper dyno tune done on the car. I would really like to get into the 12.5s and I will be happy....for a while.

BlackinBlackSS/RS - thanks for starting this thread

Tag and the rest of you guys, thanks for the additional information as well.

I too wonder why the one poster didn't like the CAI. I had one and thought it was a well made adn designed cai. Removing the washer bottle and/or adding the ADM scoop makes it even better.

And my addition - after looking opeing up the VR and looking at the filter again, I don't think there is a front or back. There was oil on both sides, probably from the wicking effect. I would assume you will have determined front back after running it for a few thousand miles.

And on a filter related note, I didn't see an option to order a spare. For someone that uses their car as a daily driver, having a spare might not be a bad idea. I know my dryflow AEM fitlers took a couple of days or more to completely dry, after washing.

A dyno tune for sure would get you dialed in, but those are great numbers.
8/10's is about 80 hp gain, so yeah, I would say you did really well with those mods.

I don't feel like it made that much of a diffence and I don't feel like I should have to go out and buy a $75 air scoop to help it. Also the hold down screws aren't the best, I had a hard time getting them to catch. For all the hype I read about it did not knock my socks off for $399.

Put it up for sale on here and you should have no problem selling it.

You can call here and order the spare filter for $69.95 - there are marks on the side of the filter and you should keep the filter in the same direction - we also have Green filter cleaning kits here for $15 (will clean the filter 6-8 times) -the filters are preoiled when we send the units!
Hope this helps!!!

I saw the impressions in the rubber and looked for stops that they would slide up to. When I didn't see any I assumed they were just part of the mold. Are those actual arrows and showing the direction of airflow?

I'll call but figured it will help some else that didn't pay close enough attention, like myself.
