People stood in line for the Wii and the playstation 3 and would pay double the cost to have it first.. you get the idea. I would be happy to give great prices to a customer that was honest with me on about any vehicle I carry. A simple "I would buy that Silverado at $200 over invoice if you would be willing to do it and I will wrap it up today" would be an awesome deal. |

Here's the deal from my perspective.
Dealerships are the front line a of a manufacturer's business. Imagine this: I'm a potential customer, not an enthusiast... (This is an enthusiast site BTW, don't forget that...we're almost 100% gauranteed customers and if we aren't happy with things, imagine how 99% of the buying public feels.) Anyhow, I'm a customer, and I want to buy a new Camaro, which is a General Motors product. If GM says "You can pre-order your Camaro starting October 13" then thats what I will expect. If GM says "elligible discounts will be available from day one" then thats what I will expect. Any other response from a dealer is an innconsistency that I won't put up with as a GM customer. If GM and thier own dealer network simply cannot set up a system where they are on the same page, then something needs to change. This is the point where I start to wonder why I need a dealership anyway. As a customer I can research the car to a point where I will know more about the car then the salesperson will. For warrenty work a simple GM authorized warranty and service center would do. Where does the dealer add value to my experience if I can't count on them to at least be consistant with what the manufacturer says? I'm not saying that dealerships are obsolete, or that we need a new system, I'm just saying that as a customer, I'm not concerned with the reasons that GM and its dealers can't be on the same page, or the difficulties involved in selling cars in the 21st century... I care about getting a fair deal and not having to go into the dealership feeling like I am preparing for an interogation and psycho-analysis session.

GM wants to sell 100K Camaros a year.. Everyone will get one! (Remember the 05' Mustang everyone wanted? Now look at them. They can't give them away) The dealer is trying to make as much money as they can off one car. If you get a GM discount find a deal that offers it. It is crazy to think that you could be losing a few thousand because you can't wait. And Finally: Never ever buy or let your friends buy from the money grubbing dealerships that don't accept discounts or charge over MSRP! Just my Hard Earned 2 cents ![]()

This actually proves the point most of us have been making. The car is 35k, we are VERY happy to pay 33k for it and get the discount GM said they would give. Quote:
As far as calling you a 'liar and cheat', I did say you lied to me. You kept saying over and over the camaro is LIMITED PRODUCTION. If someone on here wants to correct me on that and back up your words, I'll take it back. I'm sure this thread is on the verge of locking, but I would like some input on this... is the camaro 'limited production'? GM is supposed to make 100,000 and basically sell one to anyone that wants one. am I wrong? and finally, this comment "except for a few really good people here". I'm so glad to know what you think of the camaro enthusiasts. |

This car is only limited production at first and it is not so limited that you will not be able to find one. IMO....late 2009 and into 2010 the camaro will be in full production like other GM cars. Not what full means is up to GM...this car will not come and then disappear again..it will be a good car for GM against the sports cars they are after.

I for one do not wnat this thread locked.....just get back on topic. We all know everone works hard for their money - Keep it at that IS a consumer we look for our best prices. Dealerships small or big will do what they do, offer it or not. There are good points from both sides and we as the enthusiats don't feel this is a limited production car so that is our beef when it comes to the GMS and Discounting. The "Value" is determined by what someone is willing to pay...I for one will not pay more than GMS for this car. Because I know if I do when all the dealerships start participating in 2010 or sooner....they will because like other GM cars and other manufactures cars they will be sitting on lots adn they need to move inventory to make room for newer..... The value ON my car had I paid MSRP just took a real $hit........... Again lets not get nasty.....don't think anyone has....we all have valid points...so please many of us do

Kind of an OLD THREAD....but I have posted since Oct 2008 that ALL GM DISCOUNTS would be on the Camaro. Again, it's up to the dealer to honor them.
