Not sure just what the "factory" top speed is set at before the car shuts down but I have an automatic and decided to try to see at what speed it would shut down at. I was in 4th gear and it had just hit 5th @ 147 MPH. It was still climbing but I let off @ just over 154. That was fast enough for me, I love my life!!!

140 is the point where I starting thinking "what if...". After that, it's a matter of running up to whatever speed I'm looking for and then backing off. That "what if" number seems to get lower as I get older. It used to be 160 before

Why.

Sometimes it's not about driving that fast. It's just being able to if you want to

lol.

In that case drop your car off at my house, and swing by to get it in an hour. You'll be able to go as fast as you want, as long as you dont want to go faster than 155.

I see...Maybe if you could improve your launch I'm sure you would see 4th and a higher trap speed.

IDK, I think that the momentum loss of another gear change would be bad. The same night I was there, another guy in a Camaro ran 13.19 @ 110 and he didn't get out of 3rd either. (his car was bone stock too)

Wow...I wonder what the actuall RPM you guys are shifting at in relation to peak power? The tach on these things lags quite a bit.

He said he was powershifting as soon as the needle touched the redline.

I was being WAY more conservative, I've only been drag racing twice

I see...I think if your shifting there you might be getting behind the torque curve and will actually slow you down. Thats just theory as I don't have an M6, but I did lower my shift points and am back in the meat of the torque curve getting better times...Maybe try shifting a little sooner next time and see what you get. On the A6, shifting at redline is way worse than say 5900-6000.
