my local dealer also just came back from Canada and says $20k for the ZL1. I think the cold up there made both of them stupid.

And, about another 10k so the dealership can split the profit with the salesman.

Yeah. All that freezing cold snow in the middle of summer.

not quite, but close it does look similar, but the wheel is smaller and a flat bottom (for the ZL1)... I know what you mean though about the center design

Seriously though, 43k is possible but I just can't see GM bringing the price down that low even if they could produce it for that amount. About the only situation where I see it being that low is if they're afraid they can't outperform the GT500 and feel the need to place the car against the SRT8 instead.
OK, who are you and what did you do with DG?

This is too funny. Let's say that GM Execs have been keeping an eye on the theads all this time and thought "let's price it competitively at $43k or so" and now everyone expects it to be higher! If I were them and saw such expectations, I would say "heck let's mark it up higher!" so thank you for that. Next time think bigger and beyond convincing yourself that youre always right.

43k, huh?

hehehe...

I'd lump that in the "near-impossible" category...sorry. :(

I am very serious when I ask this question:

Who is the dealer?

It is a very irresponsible statement for anyone to make....and let me assure everyone that the price has not been decided for a couple of very good reasons - one of which is: We are still developing the car!

Well I guess that burns this thread to the ground. Like anybody with any brain would believe that the ZL1 will be anywhere near $43,000.00 anyway.

Why get peoples hopes up? I paid 43 for my 2ss. There is only a fully loaded ZL1. The base comes with everything but an Auto.

I posted what you see above after reading the first three posts -

I got thru page 2 and got no further and decided I need to post some more.......

Here's the problem I have with that dealer making such an outlandish statement:

1. It isn't true and no one at GM in their right mind would say that the ZL1 is going to come in at that price.....

2. It sets people up for disappointment. (...and I REALLY hate that - I want to see each of you with "Perma-Grin" ..or, in the case of the ZL1 -- "Ultra-grin"...)

3. There is a CAFE law that says every manufacturer must hit 35.5 mpg by 2015 -- that includes Silverado and Suburban and Escalade and such.....so to think that we can sell 40,000 ZL1s is folly. The world has changed quite a bit since 1969...........so to say "well - if you drop the price, you'll sell more of them is counter to where we and every other manufacturer have to go. The sad reality is that our government may very well legislate performance cars into the stratosphere in terms of price. (...the law of supply and demand at work.....)
........(by the way - the 1969 Camaro V8 coupe had a base price of just over $2,700 - -and the ZL1 engine ALONE was $4,200! (there's a reason why only 69 of them were built -- and why it took so long to sell those 69 cars...) Now - I'm not saying that the same percentages will apply to the new one - but the dealer is just plain pulling your leg......

4. The CAFE standard, by the way - may increase anywhere from 51mpg in 2021 to 60mpg in 2021......NOW is the time to make it clear to your representatives that you are not pleased.............

So - in the kindest way that I know how -- let me ask everyone who has read this thread to take what the dealer said with a grain of salt and then have a good laugh - (the world needs more laughter anyway - .....)

And to the original poster - I don't post this to make fun of you or belittle you - I am certain beyond any doubt that you are a very enthusiastic and loyal Camaro guy - and you are only telling us what you were told. It's just unfortunate that what you were told was false and that the info. given to you by that dealer will only lead to disappointment.....and THAT'S why I'm so upset with this particular dealer - IF in fact he said what is claimed.

I was kind of thinking the same as you. But in reality I don't think this forum will greatly influence the price of the ZL1.
