manual or auto mode don't have anything to do with AFM. that system kicks in under low-load conditions on the highway. if you're in manual mode, cruising in 6th, you'll more than likely be in 4-cylinder mode, unless you put your foot in it to pass someone.

the reason for the 155mph limit (not like you're gonna go faster than that on the roads anyway) is because of the speed rating on the factory tires

And someone would be glad to sue GM for allowing Camaro to go over the speed rating of the factory tires and having their tires blow.

To me it is the responsible of the driver to know the capabilities of their car and the limits of the Tires on the Car.

They must protect the clueless or risk getting Sued.

I tend to drive my cars to the limit at least once while I own them. When I had a 350Z I drove it up to 155mph, and when I had a Vette I took her to 185mph. This was done on a a perfectly paved thruway at 5 o'clock in the morning three lanes no cars on the road for the msot part, its like racing Nascar, but against yourself!

There were also rumors that someone from GM said the auto did 0-60 in 4.6, and the manual was 4.9. Thats what sort of perpetuated the issue from the beginning.

Oh, and I have to throw in there that "listed" 0-60 and top speed, the GTO is still on top. Not that I don't LOVE the 'maro, but I think the Goat deserves a round of applause for holding it's own for many years now.
