Well, actually I didn't order the exposed insert because it also wasn't available in the system at the time I ordered. But I have mentally ordered it if that counts for anything ![]() So you also ordered the Ashen Gray, but with the carbon stripe package? I need more info on that one before I consider it, especially with the color that I (we) chose. If it's just a gray glossy stripe to match the clear coated insert, I'm not sure it even would be noticeable on an Ashen Gray ZL1. If it's a very close match carbon fiber patterned vinyl stripe to match the exposed insert, it might look pretty sweet and have me interested (even though I'm not a fan of faux carbon fiber). What do you think? Right now, I think I'm going with the exposed insert without stripe. If it blends too much and I end up liking the car better with the black insert and stripe, I can always have it painted down the road (and it would be better quality than vinyl). That's my thought process as of today. Hopefully some really good pics of this SEMA vehicle will help reinforce that the exposed carbon insert on an Ashen Gray ZL1 is the right choice for me.

Hopefully we get a good look as to what this stripe looks like soon without having to guess or make assumptions. My opinion is that a glossy "carbon fiber" stripe would look best with the exposed insert. Any low sheen or matte finish stripe would look odd IMO.

UPDATED: ZL1 CONCEPT Sketch
Hi ALL
This is the updated ZL-1 Carbon Concept image. I updated this image with the correct wheels, and made it look a little more sinister on Thrusday.......Not sure if anyone has seen it yet. Photos of the actual car are forth coming and will answer a number of the questions you have. Enjoy the SEMA cars.......... |

Looks good, thanks! Will the stripe be the same 'metallic dark gray' stripe offered with the exposed weave CF hood for the 2012 ZL1? |

The 10 spoke wheels looked better....
I also think it would look awesome with carbon fiber mirror covers And possibly even carbon GFX - although not sure how practical that would be. Last edited by Modern07; 10-31-2011 at 08:56 AM. |
