agree with it being the lighting. the panels can not line up 100% exact thus different lighting effect.
my IOM does not show this.

The first production Camaro was delivered to my dealer today. It was a pre-ordered Red 2ss. Not a dealer car but a customer pre-order. I went down and had a close look at it and I did notice that the color of the front facia was a slightly different color from the hood and front fenders. It was not nearly as noticeable as in some of the pictures posted in this thread but it was definitely there. If you weren't looking for it you might not nitce it. However, it was parked next to a red corvette and in doing a side-by-side comparison, the corvette facia matched perfectly and the Camaro facia was just slightly off.
BTW, I also noticed the wheel weights on the brakes. The VIN number was in the 3200s but I can't remember the exact number. |

This problem is NOT just the light. If it were the light, the difference in color would not be confined to the exact parameters of the fascia. The light doesn't just happen to fall exactly where the seams are. Different lighting just makes it more or less noticeable. Hopefully GM can get this problem fixed quickly. This makes a beautiful car look horribly cheap!

Color is reflective light. Different materials (even ones that are the same color) reflect light differently. Cameras capture reflective light differently than our eyes. A plastic fascia would refect light differently than a metal hood. The fact that the surface of the fascia is more vertical than the hood adds to the different reflection. Look at original picture. The other side of fascia blends with the hood. It is only the drivers corner that appears different. Also the lower fascia blends better with the lower fender. The area in question has a white spot from the overhead light. It appears to be a crappy camera phone picture of a car in bad lighting. Camera phones are not SLR cameras and are mearly as useful as taking a quick pic for very little quality. |
