Remember an apostrophe isn't just to indicate possesion. It also indicates a contraction such as; "they're" for "they are", "you're" for "you are", "it's" for "it is", "he's" for "he has", "isn't" for "is not", etc. As Fenwick pointed out if it reads correctly without the contraction it's a good indication. If you can substitute "you are" then you should use "you're" and not "your".

I'm sorry, you will (or maybe not) have to forgive me, but any opinions or views stated with proper grammar hold more weight with this old guy than ones with poor grammar.
The one that really makes me grit my teeth is, "I seen this new new Camaro the other day." instead of the proper past tense "I saw,,,". Too bad for me that it is so common.

and "ain't" works for "am not", "are not", "is not", "have not", and "has not".

I can accept that one...but what really irks me is "should of", "could of", or "would of".

There's an easy way to remember; just think of the word "ridicule" which definitely can not be spelled "redicule" (unless you're the sort of person who confuses "sale" with "sell").

I can tolerate those, but "should of" (and such) are awful.

I thought it was spelled "y'all".

the ' replaces the letters removed so I believe it is y'all http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/y'all
