Why dont you put on a Batman outfit and go fight crime while your at it... I have nothing against police officers. I grew up with a D.C Police Dept. People aren't concerned about jaywalkers they are worried about bad drivers, racers and drunks being the worst of the bunch, and the cops love video. It makes their job so easy and they do that job so well. If you are driving the way you are supposed to (rules of the road) you won't have anything to worry about. Nobody goes to jail for doing the speed limit. What kind of area do you live in? I have 4 grade schools in my town that are a stone's throw in any direction. There's Stevenson, Mount Caramel, Jane Adams, and Sacred Heart schools. Kids are everywhere and guess what kind of stories are in my local paper more than anything else?

You have to keep in mind I'm not talking about calling the cops for every little thing in traffic, we are referring to dangerous drivers who go way too far with their own behavior and it goes on constantly and I'm tired of hearing about entire families getting taken out in an accident. I'm not even exaggerating that.

Maybe traffic is a lot better where some of you live but not in my area.

It doesn't matter what you do, people in sh*tbombs, wanting to race, will always be around. My Dad and I laugh all the time of how many clowns try to race our cars or make a scene. Ignore them, it's smarter and safer that way.

I've rebadged my Camaro.

Replaced stock camaro side letters with onyx lettering from emblempros. It makes them look like they're ghosted letters on a CGM like mine.

Removed the rear SS emblem in favor of an LS3 emblem in onyx from emblempros as well. Same with the front smaller SS emblem....onyx.

It's all very subtle.... Most non car enthusiasts have no clue what an LS3 is.

As for effect.... Civics in my area have never really tried to race me. I have long tubes and a muffler delete though, so they can definitely hear me when I pull up to a stoplight.

Pickup trucks, however... ALL seem to want to race me. As do higher end imports (BMW's Benzies, Audi's) and the occasional WRX... not many Evo's in my area.

Previous poster was right.... it's all about demographics.

Some people see a sports car, and want to race it. Whether it's jealousy, interest, hate, ignorance, etc. Who cares? The reason doesn't matter. People need to get over it.

But if you're going to show off and advertise that you supercharged thinking it's going to stop people from wanting to race you, that is a bit out of touch with reality. The more you advertise your car and try to stand out, the more you're going to be noticed. Pretty simple really. I have no idea what you are trying to acheive here.
Why don't you read the thread before you think you are right and I'm out of touch with reality.
We've got a whole whack of people (like yourself) giving opinions that adding badging is going to increase the likeliness of people challenging you. But the majority of people with actual experience (which is what I asked for in the first post, not opinions) have claimed that it does lessen this.

I have a 1LT RS and I never get challenged by anyone wanting to race. I did have a new looking Mustang rev his engines at me as he drove by, and knew from the sound I was outclassed. But it matters little, I'm to old and scared of the cops to be racing lol.
My only badge I have on my car is a Semper Fi on the window.

I wish I had a stoplight to stoplight race every single time I was driving my car.

I haven't had any real issue in the camaro, but it's also ridiculously loud, so I think that sets the tone. I have more Hondas try to mess with my Subaru. Maybe they think it's a better chance because it is also Japanese, I don't know. In honesty, the Subaru would whip my camaro at the moment

The Subaru is debadged down to an STi badge on the back, and an i badge on the front. Camaro has black bowties. So I would venture to guess that badging doesn't do a whole lot, but blower whine will.

How about the ZL1's? Do you get challenged by civics still?

De-badge is my pref.... enthusiasts know what you have w/o a badge to tell them... and why care about anyone else?

1- about racing... you know what keeps folks from wanting to race me? When they pull up next to me with their butt-trumpet I slowly look over and start laughing! (but don't point... that would just be rude) Then bzzzzzzz off they go. It works every time.

2- Pit bull or Shih Tzu???? Here is a pic of my Shih-Tzu and the ONLY badge on the entire car-

OK, for real and no fooling

It does seem a little odd that 1.5" tall letters on the side of a car will promote or deter somebody wanting to challenge you.

I've been playing with fast cars since 1989; the Camaro I drive is hardly the first performance car I've owned. I've driven very 'hey look at me' cars with 6" tall painted logos reading "FORMULA" down the sides of the car and bright yellow, black, and red paintwork. I've driven performance cars that look like nothing special but go like stink, and I've driven cars with factory hood scoops and little "455" badges that don't mean anything to the "Hey-is-that-liters?" crowd.

And it's all the same

It's not your car. It's the other people. 9 out of 10 people don't see your "SS" badges in the first place. And the ones that look for it can't see it unless they are right up next to you, and they sought you out. The badges or lack thereof didn't pull them in like a magnet or push them away in fear.

It's the mindset of the other guy. I recall with a lot of giggles the day my cousin Paul (a member here) was minding his own business in his '78 Grand Marquis and a guy in a pro-street Camaro pulled up and challenged him to a race. The badging on the car had nothing to do with it; the other driver was an ass

Ok, why don't you read my whole post before you make these comments, specifically:

There is no rhyme or reason to why people are going to chose to race you. Hence my post above.

And for you to say, "But the majority of people with actual experience (which is what I asked for in the first post, not opinions) have claimed that it does lessen this." Is a sheer generalization the holds no merit nor confirms or denies your argument.

I can say, "the majority of the people on this forum will not get in a car accident." While that is true due to odds, I have no factual details to support that claim.

I've gone years without someone trying to mess with me and try to race me on the roads. Conversely, I've had periods where many people have tried in just a few days.

Again, my point is that you don't know who is going to want to race you and why, and by having or not having badges, it doesn't make a difference.
