If you check truecars.com, the average price people actually pay for a 2010 Camaro is about $800 over MSRP. Most people get it between invoice and MSRP, but a few outliers with ~$2k markups pull up the average.

Well I can only go by what I see in my AREA. I am sure they are cheaper in other states, but lol I am going to send my bud to Michigan to buy a camaro ?? That the point I was making....where I can get a camaro it is still way overpriced. For you its a great deal. But just like petro, all of us are not going to get that low price :(

Keep in mind, that while you can option out a 2010 GT500 to an MSRP over $50K, you can get the exact same performance (if not better because of less weight) from a $46,975 MSRP GT500. The only difference between the $50K GT500 and the $47K GT500 is a navigation system, HIDs and a car cover. There's a BIG difference between a base 1ss and a loaded 2SS/RS.

It's the opposite where I live. Camaros are going right at MSRP and the GT500s are marked way up. I was looking at a used 08 and they wanted 43k for it. It should have been priced in the mid 30s at least. The new ones are marked up all the way to 10k at most Ford dealerships here. So it happens to both cars. They were marking up SRT-8 Challengers also 5k or 6k last year. The GT500 is a beautiful car, the Camaro SS is a beautiful car, most American muscle cars out right now are beautiful cars. However I do not like the new styling of the 10 Mustangs. I loved hearing that supercharger whine on the older GT500s that they got rid of. But the fact is, we should all be getting together against the ricers. The ricers here all band together no matter the car brand while ''us'' guys are all bickering. The GT500 is a superior car, it is supposed to be, that is why Ford made it. The SS is no slouch either, but you can't compare the two. The SS is number 1 in it's class and number 2 if you do include the GT500. I have never owned a Ford and even I know this. We will have to mod to get those numbers out of our cars, which is why I modded my Trans Am. I can easily take GT500s but there is no reason to brag or compare the two. These comparisons are getting old now. Wait for a Z28, if it even comes out, and then compare. Have fun, admire these cars since pretty soon we may not even have them available to buy.

Well I guess you have missed all the people who order from other states at stricker or at GMS price and have the cars shipped to them and still pay less then what their local dealers are asking. But I guess thats just not an option offered to anyone, it must be a state law that you HAVE to buy local or not just have one.

You are just here on a stealth troll to get people to want a mustang. Thats cool that you prefer mustangs but you are on the wrong boards for that. You stated in one of your first post that something along the lines that you can't get a camaro for under 40 grand or something like that, clear as day thats not true when you look at what the average Camaro is going for is 800 over stricker so whatever.

What BIG difference are you talking about between 1SS and 2SS?
Per Chevy's site today the 1SS is listed at $31,040 and the 2SS at $34,225 with destination to start. The RS package is $1200 and can be had on either trim level.
Performance wise they offer the same with L99 and LS3 the only option.

Well this race really wasn't apples for apples here. For this to be a fair race, the Camaro needs to be a Callaway Camaro. Giving the Camaro the Callaway package would bump the horse power up to 527. Then this race would be pretty close. But we all saw what car had the whole shot! Camaro would probably take the GT 500 with the Callaway up grade. Just my opinion.

The Shelby GT500 is indeed holding it's value well, which is good, unless you were one of the cats that paid way over sticker. This trend should continue with only 3,000+ cars produced in 2009 and likely only 2000 GT500's produced in 2010. I would like that it remain the niche\cult beast that it is.

That 2010 myth was debunked by Ford almost as fast as it was posted on the internet. Ford is not limiting the production on 2010 GT500's to "only 2000 units" as reported elsewhere. The only reason 2009 was such a short run is because of the introduction of the 2010.

Lol wow....I am not trying to convince anyone to buy a Mustang. There are threads in THIS FORUM where people say they have paid well over 40k for their Camaro. I am not making this up. People buy what they want..duh this is a CAMARO SITE.....Who am I actually trying to convince ????

From RPepka: Thread L99 Holding Off:

My 2005 GTO automatic bone stock would beat my sons 2000 stock automatic non WS6 Trans Am by 4 car lengths. I spent $46,000 and now he beats me by 4 car lengths. My 0 to 60 times are in the low 6 seconds or higher. There is a problem without question.
There are other threads I have read where people have said they have paid more than the 32~34k pricetag. Hell Garage had a display up from a dealer in Tenn with those high price tags up...do you actually believe that dealers are not marking these cars up ? Somehow you believe dealers will not do FMP in some area's ? Oh yeah thats right it never happens. You just believe people make up prices so yeah...they can be convince to buy Mustangs on a Camaro site.

Wow...

True. But I am not the one buying the car. With the issues I have read here about orders and builds..now the QC holding que...some people do not want to go to another state or drive across the state just to buy a car......or to order it.

Driving 6 hours across the state is not a option for everyone.

Yeah but with that extra horse power the Camaro's run would likely look more like the Shelby's. Less initial hook. They do make it overly clear that they felt the comparison wasn't apples to apples money wise. I'm personally content with trailing a markedly more expensive car with a little over a hundred more horsepower by that small of a margin. And all motor.
