After spending yesterday afternoon and this morning working with the guys in our product design depart, we have determined that this is not a manufacturing defect. We are not overly happy with the way the upper coil seats in the upper spring mount, and we are going to make a small design change to the top coil to make seating the spring easier.

We assembled multiple strut and spring combinations, and while sometimes tricky to get seated, our front lowering springs will seat and go together. We have not found any difference in upper spring mounts and the isolators between different model years. There is more ramp in the top coil of our springs (compared to the OEM spring), but it designed to flatten out when the spring is seated with the weight of the vehicle on them. Once the spring seats, you will have no issues with the spring staying seated. Getting there is just tricky.

We have had lowering springs for fifth-Gen Camaros available for five years with thousands of springs on cars, and this is the first time we have ever seen this issue. The small design change we are making to the top coil will make seating the spring easier.

We are very sorry that you are having an issue, and we will give you a full refund if you are unhappy with the springs. However, albeit tricky, we were able to seat the springs here. Any of our lowering springs are going to fit the same way, as they are all coiled on a CNC coiling machine. I hate whenever our customers have an issue and someone’s car is laid up on jack stands for this long, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

I will get with Phastek shortly and let them know what we’ve been dealing with. If they can get them seated, awesome! If not, you and I can talk tomorrow morning and work out our next move.

So what's the trick to getting it seated right? I never got an answer to my question in post #43.

Yea, Im going to phastek to see what they say about the appearance of the spring. maybe compare it to some they have in stock. I had to put the oem springs back on my car so I can drive it to work. I honestly don't think phastek will have time to make any attempt to install the springs today cuz I wont get to them till out 415 and they close at 5, nor do I wish to pay someone to do something I can do myself. Especially having all this "practice" Ive gotten with these :( lol Depending on what Phastek says, I may have to tear the assy out AGAIN tonight, and take the springs to them during my lunch break tomorrow. IF my wife doesn't need to use my avalanche tomorrow. My jack stands getting worn out! haha

760bowtie...........He didn't tell me the "trick" to getting them installed but Pete and TC over at BMR have been very helpful and are doing their best to resolve this situation. Great customer service so far

Sounds good, keep us updated. I was hoping there was some kind of trick I could do to keep the spring seated correctly while I installed them back on the car. I shot BMR a PM, I'll just wait to see what they say.

Probably get a faster response calling them. They seem pretty busy. I had gone all the way through with my install at one point. Put the tire on and while she was on the jack stand, I put my floor jack under the spindle and jacked it up to where the tire would normally be positioned as if it were sitting on the ground and I could yank on the spring to "seat" it and it still would pop back out. I made sure the top nut was tightened all the way too.

There really isn't a "trick" to speak of and my PM to him wasn't in regards to installation, so I didn't post my response here. I just said he shouldn't have any issues with how the spring is seated on the mount. Sorry for the confusion.

so, if I understand your post correctly you're saying it's okay for the spring to be sitting cocked off to one side?

No, that's not what I said at all. Gabe and I have had multiple conversions about the issue he is having. BMR is now in the process of making a small revision to the top coil of our lowering springs to make seating them easier. Gabe stopped by one our larger dealers for some help since he's in Texas and we are in Florida. Our next move to get the situation resolved is based on that, and that is what we are working on this morning.

Ok so now I'm a little confused. Yesterday you told me I would be fine with how the spring sat but now you're saying it's not fine. I have my alignment appointment tomorrow, should I just cancel it and wait to see what the results are with phastek? I don't want to pay for the alignment just to find out I have to swap out the springs and have to pay for a second alignment again.
