Consider the fact that the Camaro has come a long way from the first generation. I owned a 78 Camaro Type LT as my first car, it had the 305 2 barrel V8 and a Turbo 350 transmission, power output on it was 135 HP with torque rating of 240 ft lbs. Not impressive numbers for a late 70's Camaro, even the top Z28 350 of that year only had 185 HP and torque rating of 280 ft lbs. With the new advances in engine technology these later model engines are doing much more in smaller sizes and more efficiently.

I've been very happy from day one with my V6.

I find it funny people consider v8s "muscle" cars and not these sixes when these sixes will keep up or beat so many well known "muscle" cars. Hell, the original z28 did the quarter in about 15 sec. No one questions the "muscle" status of that.

Please don't compare your v6 camaro to the classic muscle cars. With better tire upgrades...and a few mechanical upgrades your v6 isn't as dominant as you think. I don't compare my ss to those cars.....show them the respect they deserve. You have a good car.....leave it at that.

You should compare your SS to those cars. We should compare all of our cars to the Classic muscle cars. While I agree with you on the V6 vs classic v8s, today's cars are better in every way than the classic muscle. I'm old and I owned and drove a lot of those muscle cars when they were original.

Using today's technology, you can make those old cars much better. Faster, better handling. safer but today's cars are better in every way. You may prefer the looks of the old cars but that is personal preference.

I would love to have a first gen Camaro, 69 to be exact, but I'm not kidding myself to think they are better than a Gen5 or 6.

I couldn't agree more Ritchet. I've been a fan of all muscle cars, especially Chevy's, since I was a little kid. I'm 42 now and I just recently purchased my 2015 LT. I've wanted a Gen 5 since 2010 and now my son is big enough to climb in and out of the back. Since my car is a daily driver, the v6 offers me the perfect balance of fuel economy, good power, and of course the main draw to most of us is the overall look of a Camaro.

I am probably one of the few that made a conscious decision to get the 6. I did it for several reasons. The biggest reason is I know myself. If I had an 8 I would not have my license for long. I have already had a few people tell me the old worn out line of "you should have gotten the 8" I also hear much the same thing regarding my 57 Chevy. "Oh its only a 4 door". My comments to these people are much the same "what do you drive?" more often than not it is a mini van or an SUV. Jealousy shows, also people LOVE to tell you how you should spend your hard earned cash. It is no ones business what I drive. I love my 6 and my 4 door.
