Welcome Mrs. Negative Nancy.

Ok guys, I've collected, and raced Camaro's and Vettes for years.. I love these cars. 2 yrs ago when the new Camaro was introduced as a concept car there were many aritcles written stating that there would be a 427 LS7 version.. I can find the mags, and dates for you folks if you like. I made sure I was the first on the list at my local Chevy dealer for the new General.. Yes the SS will be a step above the GT mustang, and the Challenger.. I as well as many others on this site are a bit let down that a 500hp pkg is not it the immediate future.. I think after playing, and modding my 07 GT500 I would thing that GM would produce a Camaro that could be slightly modded to bring it up to a super car status as the Ford did with the Shelby GT500.. Don't get me wrong. I still think that a high HP Camaro will be coming down the line. Just frustrated that I've been on this list for 2 yrs and may have to back out in hopes of a higher HP Camaro.. Aren't some of you guys disappointed too???

The LS7 rumor was just that...a rumor. And has since been shot down directly by people ON the Camaro project - "There will be no LS7". It's unfortunate that you signed up with a dealer that long ago before anybody knew anything.

Given that there are many more people apt to buy an SS, and LT, etc; It's understandable why priority would be given to those two models over a relatively expensive, limited-numbers model...
But hopefully you can rest a little easier knowing that Nothing's been cancelled.

Well, those rumors sold alot of car magazines..
So, give the current status of the SS.. Would you buy an SS now? Or would you hold off in hopes for a limited high HP Camaro? If you did purchase the SS LS3 what mods would you suggest with out destroying/hacking the car to death? I appreciate any info you can provide to help some of us make important decisions on our Camaro purchase rapidly approaching..

With a little bit of searching this site for information on the LS3, you'll find a bunches of the very information you seek.

I might buy it, but it depends on a few things. Can I get an automatic on the Z/28, whats the fuel economy, and what will a Z/28 go for fully loaded? If either of these three don't work out it will be an SS for me, maybe if it's a performance accessory I will get the supercharger for the Z/28.

Apparently the CTS-V for 2009 can be had with an auto, did not know that till I just went and looked...The Vette does not, if it is a LSA then there might be shot at the auto...

well blame the car mags for the rumor mill. they are out to make money just like GM is.

I would buy an SS. but want a Z28 (weather it be supercharged or not).

a cam, bolt ons and tune will give you the hp of a GT500. go to LS1tech.com for more info about all the LS series engines.

for someone that claims to collect and race vettes and such you know very little about the LS series of engines. . .not saying you don't do such racing and collecting. just seems like you've got more money that you don't know what to do with.

Awesome, did they mention the fuel economy of the 09 CTS-V? I really like that car also, but sadly I don't have that kind of money now. :(

Guess we have to wait a little longer, I would assume the fuel economy of the Camaro Z/28 would be slightly better than a CTS-V.

Might a be a couple hundred pounds lighter, hard to say, the CTS-V is 4200 and 4300 (manual and auto), they say they changed the shift points and gears on the auto so that is should be about as fast as the manual, maybe GM will now only produce the LSA and use it in minor variations on the CTS-V, the Camaro, and the Z06, since the LS7 seems doomed in the long term for reasons of cost. Having all three at around 550 hp could save some dollars from the V8 development budget that got cut in the last round...Hopefully the "sacrifice" will be something like that, but having the new motor and only using it in the CTS-V makes no sense from a financial perspective since they were probably counting on volume from all 3 to get economies of scale, they get even more if they just pick up the LSA and drop it in more cars, similar to what happened to the LS3 and the Camaro...Not even Fbodfather's hairdresser may know the answer to that one yet...Yeah I know he claims he doesn't need a hairdresser after the last few years....

I expected them to detune the engine to less than the CTS-V, thats why I was thinking it would get better fuel economy. However it will be hard to complain about a 550 HP Camaro.

I've swapped out the cam, added a CAI, tuned, Changed out the valve stems, and springs for titanium, removed the pup cats (pre cats) on my LS6/ZO6 to make the most hp for the money. So sir, having said that. I'm concerned with bolting on boost becasue I do know there are NO forged internals on the LS series.. Thats why if GM installs a S/C LS serious in a camaro it will have a warranty which means GM will cover their butts bu installing internals to handle the boost.. Dont know much eh?..I'm not into getting into a pissing match w/ you. These site are for objective opinions to help folks out.. WTF Hmmm

Question LS8? LS9? LSA?

I will be waiting on the vert but if news comes out that there will be
a LS8 or LSA supercharger coupe or vert (2011) I will wait till that
dose come out, I thank it will and also the Z/28

that is my 2 cents
