Ok what is it on all the forums with how many posts someone has, does having a lot of post make you so much smarter? And I have had my license for ,oh ,about 39 years. As I said ,thats MY opinion. Maybe look at some vids of magazine guys testdriving the Camaro and their comments , that it a completely different experience drive one with a manual.Something about might as well buy a Malibu if you get an auto one.
Hey as long as your happy with it thats all that matters tho, I know everone has their preference and didn't mean no disrespect.

Well when you post how autos are for lazy old people your insulting alot of owners that drive autos....like me. Im not lazy or old and can bang gears with most guys on here. So your post count isn't what makes you less smart....its your content. A current tuned stalled auto will leave you looking like a lazy old man when the light turns to go.......just my opinion of course.

Thats funny.....at 47 bud I don't need any lectures on what and how to drive......judging by your post I thought I would be addressing you as junior. If you think only immature kids care about who's car is faster your really out to lunch.....manual cars are great and you will find this debate has been going on here for a long time. But give your head a shake before you post and you will be fine.

I love the auto in my Chevy SS, it has four modes for shifting. You can leave it in drive, or in sport mode, or you can use the paddles, or better yet the shifter act like the old Hurst dual gate. You can slide the shifter to the right putting it into sport mode, then use the shifter to manually shift up and down. The computer does all the rev matching for you, it great. I wish I had the same shifter in my ZL1, that would be a blast.

Best solution so far - for any conventional automatic (and DSG's as well).

Though I'd still prefer to make the rev match happen myself - once you've got a semblance of timing down it's about as easy as any foot-operated control input gets. I recently drove a family member's new-to-her car that has this feature (also has paddles), and working the floor shifter is the only way I'd ever drive that car or any other AT or DSG car with the same setup. Pedal-operated rev-matching was easily noticeable as being better than the automated going down between the more widely spaced gears (6A).

I'm sure it can be done somehow, and maybe somebody already has. So much easier these days with only having to re-route a few wires and at most add a couple of switches than it would have been when I first thought about doing something similar (and seeing big difficulties in guaranteeing consistent accuracy in how far a cable or link was pulled/pushed and adjusting for things like cable stretch). Pre-Hurst, actually.

I was born and raised in Europe, got my First motorbike (with 3 manual gears!) about 35 years ago and went on with manual bikes and cars for about 25 years because you wouldn't even find cars with autos in Europe, back then.

Then, about 10 years ago, I changed job and had to start commuting in traffic 2-3 hours every day, so I switched to an auto. The first automatic was an Alfa Romeo with a sort of sport shift program, the first one to ever downshift for you when you were braking aggressively during a sporty drive. Nowhere near today's automatics, but a lot of fun for the time.

Then I moved to one BMW after the other, learning to love their ZF transmissions. The latest one (the ZF 8-speeds that is now standard on all bimmers) is simply amazing. In sport mode, it's sharp, crisp and it sounds amazing with a symphony of cracks, pops and burbles. And it's always ready to downshift at the right time, no delay. And of course you can drive it almost like a manual with the paddles.

However, after ten years of automatics, I realized that they were taking something away from my driving experience. They were allowing me to think about something else while I was driving. I was spending a lot of time in my sporty BMW's thinking about everything else, I was disengaged. Call me an old fart, but that was starting to take away a good part of the pleasure of driving.

When I bought my 2SS last summer, I made a deliberate choice, a commitment to stay engaged 100% when driving my Camaro, that's why I picked a manual. Yes, that's my daily driver, but now I commute only 5 minutes and it's all backroads. And it's all great fun!

Hahaha see I'm screwed in more than one way I drive an auto and I don't have a catch can

All jokes aside though I wish I knew how to drive a manual tranny just to have the ability.
