Actually, I do have a pretty good idea . . . could have told you to expect this at least 48 years ago except for this one minor detail.

Seriously, it just doesn't matter how many cars or people can launch better/more consistently than I've ever been able to. But if there's any one thing about this whole AT vs MT matter that "grinds my gears", it's when the driver in the AT vehicle behind me only knows how to drive to the set throttle position that gets him rolling and ends up crowding my car's rear bumper on my upshifts as a result.

On roll racing.

this ↑↑↑. With extended clutch life being a clear (if secondary) benefit.

My wife - not a car enthusiast whatsoever - has been driving stick since the early 1970's and still does. Doesn't want an AT even now.

Our daughter had to learn MT driving, else she wouldn't have got much practice driving done on her permit. Ditto for our oldest grandkid, she'd have come up short on practice too (and probably missed out on something else useful to know/have experienced as well).

Further back, all the women in my parents' generation (not to mention their parents' generation) who drove at all could drive stick. It was my own Mom who was most responsible for teaching me.

IOW, there's hope for your wife. Try not being too apprehensive, your confidence that she'll be able to get this skill down will help her get it down.

A tree hugger in a Prius driving 50mph on the highway in the left hand Camaro lane that won't move over!!

There should be a 50 cal option for the front grill. Wait, I'm an engineer - maybe there's a way ...

Another thing that annoys me: when people never come to a complete stop at a red light, they just keep inching forward.

Sadly my Mother does this one. It drives me nuts when I'm a passenger with here . Most of the time I drive .

The shock when people ask me if I drive the Camaro in snow storms like today. Yes I do, it's a car not a delicate flower.

Thanks for the advice, now that the car is tuned and the 1-4 shift is removed I plan on taking her out. Well when it isn't cold and raining.

2 things...

1) LA traffic/ignorant lawbreaking drivers, and

2) The absence of law enforcement to stop said ignorant lawbreaking drivers. People drive this bad because they get away with it.

3) Oh, and a 3rd one... Lawyers!

Naw, it's the arrogant V8 guys who are getting outclassed by nearly a second by garden variety 6th gen SS's.

I love my V6 because I was able to enter the beautiful 5th gen style and performance for under $20K brand new. However, I knew I had to have the manual so that's what I bought. I've never regretted it since.

Donkeys parking in no parking spaces (handicap etc..) but the businesses do nothing to police it.
