Give the kid a break guys. He just wanted to know what it really feels like to drive a modern American muscle car. You would too if you own a Fiat.

Well, I never saw that thread, but I did expect to see a post from you in there based on this post of yours. I guess you should include yourself in the "where the hell was everyone" statement. Now I will give you these are very similar situations, but the blatant disrespect the OP exhibited in this thread just set everyone off.

I started to write something very sanctimonious about this. But then I thought, who cares what I think?

All I know is, Karma's a bitch.

Doubt that the insurance pays for a mechanical breakdown. It covers accidents.

Wow, what hypocrites.
The rental company will get it fixed under GM warranty, so what's the problem?
Just turn it in "as is".
I agree the OP should have been more respectful and certainly should not be abusing the car any more. Should be lesson learned. But it seems not.

I am sure if our car broke at the strip or road-track, wherever, we would be at the dealer looking for redress. How many of us also switch out the tune when requiring warranty work? How honest is that?

Although the OP shows immaturity, give him a break. If it were our own car, we would do the same.

Cheers.

Hahaha...Seriously...Or perhaps a diversion strategy. Tell us all that it's Avis in case someone does decide to notify the rental agencies. In which case, if a member does decide to do that I would notify all that rent Camaros just saying that they might be interested to know that someone might be trying to dupe them and make them pay for something for which they have no responsibility to pay and to keep an eye out for returned Camaros and take a gander at the forums.

Either way, I don't think it was right to treat it like that nor was he the first person to do it, but oh well what's done is done and there are always consequences. A mature person just deals with the consequences.

Not to sound like a dick man just giving my 2 cents about doing the right thing. If everything did magically start working again then congratulations you got lucky this time and hopefully learned a lesson from worrying about it.

BTW, most insurance policies exclude coverage for damage caused during "any racing or stunting activity". Yes, that's the actual language. Long story short, your insurance probably won't pay if they know you broke it doing donuts.

Everyone else think about that the next time your thinking of taking your shiney new Camaro to the drag track.

I'm not a lawyer, I just play one on Camaro5.

Dragstrip is nothing compared to the abuse this guy was doing.

I don't know about that. I saw that Youtube video of the guy who put his new Camaro in the wall at the drag track because he had the TC and stabilitrak off and the rear wheels never hooked up and he lost control.

I'd say the repair bill on that was more than a new power steering pump.

That's the kind of thing I was thinking of when I posted my comment. Not just normal drag racing, but when racing goes wrong.
