Agreed..Im not sure why people are still complaining about this issue when I also have been using the little hook for the gas cap and it never hits the paint of the car..

This is the best solution imo. Once its bent the issue goes away.

Gas Cap Caddy sucks!! The adhesive weakens after a month and just falls off, especially in warm conditions. The cap doesn't even fit that snug anyway. I need to figure something else out cuz I'm tired of my cap falling off that flimsy hook and hitting my finish all the time. I hope they broomed the engineer who came up with that idea!

Did they change the design of the hook on recently built cars? Mine was built in March, and I can tell you the gas cap holds perfectly on the hook. I had to fill her up today, and couldn't help but think of this thread while putting the cap on the hook. I tried to figure out what was the problem people were talking about...

That's why you should just get this.
Stant 11504 Locking Fuel Cap. You don't only get more security, but you can just take it off and lay it up on the pump until your done pumping and then put it back on. It only costs $15 on Amazon. I have the 2ss and it fits great.

+1. After discovering that you could open the gas door when its parked, I went and took off the stock gas cap and replaced it with a locking cap. Doesnt throw any codes and helps to protect your tank from mischievious people.

The old ones had a stiff cable that didn't flex enough to really "hang" on a hook. The hook is now a bit bigger too and there is absolutely no problem hanging the gas cap there now.

I traded in my old car with a gas cap caddy from Number 9 still on it... glad I didn't need it anymore...

i have the same issue, especially when it's cold. the cable is too stiff and never stays on the little hook. I actually drape it over the top of the fuel door and it doesn't hit the paint.
