I currently own a 2008 Jetstream Blue Z06 (with several mods).
Last week I test drove a 2SS RS 6-Speed. I really like the car. Looks are also great. Go pedal needs some work. SC would be a nice addition. I see Kenny Bell has one and I would surely add that.
You guys have a great car and if I did not own the Z06, I would have my butt in the Camaro.
I've been actually toying with the idea of selling my car and getting a Camaro. Think I'll wait to see what the 2011 brings.
I also like the folks here on the forum.

Comparing the Corvette and Camaro V8 is a lot like Comparing the CTS and the Camaro V6. These are different markets. Many of us prioritize the powerplant, making a CTS a senseless buy when the same money could be a Camaro SS. Those who would prefer the Cadillac nameplate and the luxuries associated with the brand would deem a 1SS a foolish buy for their car. Likewise, a Corvette owner is a different buyer, prioritizing weight, exotic appeal, and a 2-seater.

Like I've stated in other threads, the Camaro SS should be as in past models, The poor mans Corvette. However nice the Camaro is it just is not a 'Vette. Was not meant to be.
Frankly I think the Camaro is overpriced as compared to a base Corvette. I'm not sure what I'm going to buy as a really nice used Corvette can be had for the same price as a new SS.

No disrespect intended here, the poor man's Corvette phrase is almost as old as the first generation Camaros and Firebirds. I also doubt a truely poor person could hardly afford a new Camaro. The phrase was coined because so many people wanted a Corvette which was just out of reach price wise so they bought the Camaro or Firebird.

I recently cancelled my 2SS/RS order. For $2K less scratch I got a 08' 3LT with 9K miles on it. Same color combo as what the Camaro would have been. The market on new & used Vettes is very well known. IMHO once the new wears off the Camaro and Chevy floods the market with them you will see secondary values fall off very quickly.

After the intitial depreciation hit on a new Vette they hold their values pretty well, as much as a car does anyway.

I already have a Tahoe Z71 that I'll keep forever so a backseat isn't necessary.

I could less about market value as you can't put a price on the happiness of owning a car. And once you pay a car off why worry about market value keep your cars if you really love them.. Comments like this just remind me how many people are out there to always have the next big thing.

Corvette is an American icon, nothing is killing it anytime soon.

I can't freaking find them in stores. I was happy enough to see this one sitting there. So I picked it up for the desk here at work.

I don't like the headlights either. I think the C7 is overdue.
I think you mean...."awesome brakes"

Having experienced both, I can say without a doubt the Vette is the more fun car to drive. It's more agile, stops faster, and feels a lot more planted to the road. The Camaro just feels sluggish, not to mention visibility is better in the Corvette (which is hard to believe). Granted, I'll stick to my heads/cam C6Z. The cars are marketed towards different groups of people, though, so no... the Camaro isn't hurting the Corvette one bit. It would be a pretty big chore to make the Camaro perform comparable to a C6 Corvette (and I'm talking about more than just straight line acceleration).

The Camaro is no match for the Corvette, same engine or not. The Corvette handles better, accelerates better and is pretty much a world class car. BUT the Camaro is definatly the bigger head turner, right now.

I, like many, have also driven both cars numerous times. Their is definitely a difference in acceleration and overall feel. My biggest complaint for the corvette was it being so hard for me to get in and out of (6'2")!! Other than that, what a great car! I also love the Camaro, especially having enough trunk space. My only bummer with the Camaro is that I raced my wife with our 2006 Impala SS and they were pretty close up to 100. The Camaro started to pull away, but not by much. I guess that is where a CAI and pipes are needed!

That's way too close....how many miles and are you using premium gas?

Sorry, that distressed me. The Impala is quick, but more like a mid-6 second car...
