Yay! This is the first time I got dragged into the type of dispute that seems to happen on a lot of these threads. It must be some forum rule that rational discussion must be interrupted by invective. I'm a Chevy-loving, Ford-hating fanatic now!

People have to find something better to do with their time than argue crap in this manner.

That said, and me having nothing better to do...

(Prices before tax)
Ford GT Premium manual 33,695
White racing stripe +475=34170
Brembo's +1695=35,865
373 +395=36,260 (gotta compensate for that low-end somehow)
Comfort package (for the heated seats, Camaro has them) +595=36,855
Electronics package (truly an awesome offering by Ford, totally trumps OnStar and worth the price IMO) +2340=39,195
Rear-view camera (also awesome, beats my backup beepers) +240=39,435
Coupe accessory package 1 - I love this kit, but it is essential to compete with the looks of my (IMO) better-looking Camaro +720=40,155

I have 20" wheels and I didn't add upgraded wheels into the Mustang.

Total price I paid for my car: 34,768 2SS no RS, white stripes.

I'm sorry to respond to a troll-like post and beat this dead horse, but nobody ever yells at me here and I wanted to bust my cherry. Maybe I can get in a flame war I can talk about when Im in an old folks home. And to show the level of my Chevy bias, having owned nothing but Fords my entire life, I will post a picture of my license plate frame that will ensure that neither Chevy nor Ford guys will like me:

You are one of the few who has driven both, so your statement has merit, but feelings and hard numbers are two different things. I don't care about magazine tests, you tube videos, etc...I'm waiting to line up against an 11 GT at the track..not to whip it ass, or visa versa, but just to see how the heck these things run in the real world in the hands of the general public.

I personally think it's outstanding that Ford answered the bell with the 11 GT, love to see GM counter punch as well...this is a great time to be a muscle car owner. I also however feel that the blue oval crowd isn't paying the LS3 SS much respect, and I think that's a major insult.

Just my .02...carry on

Whats new?

BTW....how did your car run at the track? Also...you better be able to launch when running against that auto GT....it seems just about anyone can run a 12 second slip with one...they are quick.

My 60' times were horrible....launching the M6 SS is an art form...best pass I could get out of the car was 12.9 @ 111. I'm also thinking lack of a tune hurt me as well..Didn't see a sub 2.0 all night long

Also, I'll be at 75 and 80 tomorrow in case a new 5.0 wants to show up. Given I usually pull 2.5 60' times in this car it will probably be a runaway for the Mustang, but I'm willing to try. Hoping a lower launch rpm will work, have run a best of 13.6 on street tires, full tank. Will have full tank tomorrow, I like to keep a baseline. Lets just have fun people!

Might want to make that race with the mustang from a roll until you get a little more practice But all in all not very bad considering it is the summer and you are untuned.

Honestly I find my 5th gen a lot easier to launch than my 4th gen for some reason...

I havent been to the track yet...but I seem to get pretty good launches on the street by just holding the clutch right below grabbing point and the rpms at about 3-4k. Then I just ease down on the gas while letting out the clutch. I can usually get a pretty hard launch with some controlled wheel spin or none at all with a very slight bog. Im no expert but I would think this could get me around a 2.0 at worst...especially considering a track should hook better than the street.

whats your technique?

Oh...and I just seen your "drives" comment...that is hilarious.

I just bought a camaro a few weeks ago.. 2ss/rs with the hurst shifter and stripes..

I also own a gt 47/80 turbocharged built mustang, and work on mostly mustangs at a shop that my grandfather and I do alot of performance/ fabrication work out of..

I am around this stuff on a daily basis, at the track, the mustangs are consistently in the 12s.. Hell low 12s mostly, about 2 weeks ago, there were two with paper plates and exhuast, by exhuast i mean, catback, or midpipe.. and were going 12.3 12.4 at anywhere from 111 to 113..

This is two weeks ago, in the heat, when most guys with camaros are barely in the 12s at all.. let alone going 113mph with nothing for mods..

Bolts ons guys have already gone 11s at 118mph, on stock wheels and drag radials...

My drives comment is tongue in cheek

I tried to do the same technique you're using, I just need more seat time at the track to perfect it!

Cam goes in Monday, so it'll be another learning curve following that

Don't you need to start adding safety equipment when you run times like this?

Wow thats fast. Evan Smith was only able to do a 12.3 with drag radials and a 12.69 without them in the summer heat. 110 and 112 traps

BTW...a stock camaro has trapped 113 (in summer heat)...check the fast list. DA was 2180...non-corrected.

Sounds like you should have bought a mustang from how much you love it and the times you see them run.
