I'm shocked none of the ragazine reviews are out yet. The cars are already being delivered and they have had a few days to get articles together. I'm interested to read their opinions how it compares to zl1 and very interested to see what kind of numbers they put up, especially since the rags always correct their ET/trap

I'd bet on the Shelby personally with the info we have so far, but it hasn't put up times yet so we'll see. It's just incredibly fast in the straights, has some nice binders, and it's not exactly a slob in the corners. On another note though, don't buy a track car just based on how fast it is. Track days are for fun and getting the car that matches your driving style is far more important than having the car that will put up the best times. Whether that car is the zl1 or any other car is up to you. I put up faster times with my car dialed in for a very neutral rotation with slight understeer, but i have a hell of a lot more fun with a bit of oversteer. Chase fun, not numbers.

Why do people care about "Ring" times so much? I see everyone quote it and talk about it like it has anything to do with how that car would handle with them driving or on the streets etc.

I don't get it....not knocking it...just don't get it.

I don't get it either. In the grand scheme of things, unless you compare the cars at the same time, on the same day, with the same driver(s) - it's a rather pointless comparison to make.

What's the relative skill level and experience of the drivers in question? What was the weather like? Was it raining? Did they hit traffic during the testing? What was the temperature? What kind of tires were they running? So on and so forth. There are literally a hundred different factors that can skew the results here. Until you get them out there with as many of these variables held constant as possible, you're just pissing in the wind when you start bragging about 'ring times.

The crazy thing is some of the 2012 zl1 owners still haven't gotten their cars.

Posting fantastic times at VIR and the 'ring are pointless? Not sure if I agree with those arguments. Lot of people here saying the shelby will dominate the zl1 on the track, but as of yet it's just talk. Let's see someone post a 'pointless' time better than the zl1.
