I like how they moved the top ring groove down to make for a real thick top ring land. Wrist pins were made wider for strength. Gas ports are bigger and oiling ring groove is a lot thicker. They have a nice polished smooth finish too.

Here you go, the first pic is with both pistons on the same wrist pin. The pistons themselves are actually lighter than the factory ones but the wrist pins are heavier. So as assemblies the new ones are 9 grams heavier. Here's the breakdown:

OE piston- 399.6 grams
OE pin- 120.3 grams
Total- 519.9 grams

Diamond piston- 390 grams
Diamond pins- 138.9 grams
Total- 528.9 grams

Dang, I've been hanging out in all the wrong sections. Looking real good, and those pistons should Geterdone! Why did you pick Diamond over Wiseco?

What was your boost typically prior to the melt down and what do you think you will be able to get the boost up to with the new setup?

Look into adding the Accel coils now that they are finally available. I added mine last night. Runs smoother even with the narrower gap. Raining today so no WOT yet.

That is going to help with the boost moving forward in the V6. Are you going to work on anything else since the block is bare ???

I was originally working with Wiseco on the pistons. The guy that handles their custom stuff was not the nicest guy and always seemed irritated that I didn't know every spec I wanted(even though they had the factory lfx piston specs in their system and I wanted everything the same just less compression). He didn't really want to help me with any of it, just wanted the specs and was always in a hurry to get me off the phone. Not the best customer service, for custom jobs anyway.

Well I was talking to Aaron@Gwatney about tuning and said something about the pistons and he offered to help me out with them. So I sent him 2 of my pistons and he spec'd them and worked with Diamond on what I needed. Took a lot of stress off me on getting everything right. It might have cost me a little more in the end but it was worth it not to have to worry about it.

Sounds like Wiseco lost a sale.

Looking good; keep it up.

I was running about 14psi give or take. But turned out there was no meltdown, and no detonation even. I ingested oil and broke a rod and bent others. I feel like if I would have had my evac system setup right, I would still be doing just fine. 14psi, 11.5:1 compression, and no signs of detonation... Gotta love these DI engines! And I don't know what kind of boost I will be running now, I guess however much I need to make 550whp or so. I'm not trying to make crazy Gretchen numbers, our transmissions can't handle that much power/torque. May have to turn it up once or twice for hero runs though lol. I really want a 10.99, not sure if that's realistic or not.

I was wondering if you got those coils in yet or not. I don't know how much they will help but I'll probably go ahead and buy them as it shouldn't hurt.

Just rods and pistons as far as internal engine goes, but the mod list for this build is getting very long. Main things being triple disc converter, SS rear, and 18" drag radials. Cant wait!

I just received the Accel supercoils today! Great looking pieces. A little over 1/8" taller from the top of the valve cover so they are, in fact, different from the stock coils and beefier. They should do what they advertise and for FI engines, a must! I'm installing these in the new 2014 LFX engine that I am transplanting in my LLT. ( If it works ) I'm very close now. Doing my first major test next week by powering up the LFX engine/transmission assembly and attempting to download a stock GM program in order to see what crops up in the way of issues. Of course, this test will be done with the engine NOT INSTALLED just setting beside the passenger front fender with the harness plugged into the body plugs of the car. Can't afford to put the engine in and find out it isn't going to talk to the body control modules in the LLT. Pretty sure it will work but not absolutely sure. A big gamble. A real nail biter!
