Feel free to fast forward when I put down the camera. I had it set down for maybe a minute...
This might help a bit.

Just wondering if there was anything new on pricing and availability. Just finished my install a few weeks ago using a hybrid of methods. I drilled the holes behind the gauges, but used the clear tubing on the far right side. I sanded the beveled edge, then blacked out the back of the trim except the top 1/8" with black paint. It helped focus the light through the top of the trim for a cleaner look.

I'm anxious to experiment with the flexible pipe. Thinking of other areas to use it...

I saw in Motor Trend this week that the new Cadilac will have light pipe built into the interior door handles rather than light up the door handle pockets. No pics of it yet.

Which beveled edge did you sand? Wasn't the back already painted?

I sanded the top beveled edge, then I actually created another facet (beveled edge) below that (only about 1/32"). The top beveled edge sits against the dash, so it doesn't allow a lot of light through. My frustration is with trying to seat the trim flat to the dash with the rigid light pipe behind it. That's why I'm anxious to try the smaller flexible version.

Another trick I did was polish the trim bevels and ends of the light pipe with 24,000 grit pads (yes, 24,000) used to repair solid-surface counter tops. This brought them to a smooth glass finish that won't obstruct the light transfer (call me anal). I think that brightened up the lights compared to my initial install attempt.

The back is painted orange, which bleeds light through in different areas. It also has 2-sided tape running the length which holds the mounting tabs. I didn't like the extra bleeding from the various spots, so I blacked-out everything but the top 1/8". I feel it looks more consistent with the door panels now that I extended those lights as well.

I had a couple of free days in the garage and just decided to play...
