Another thing is not having the GGT.

And Ford just released FE numbers for the new Eacape.........1 better than Equinox. Not that I want a 1.6t in something that size. But it's clear in some areas Ford has it going in the right direction.

They still don't have a Camaro though

....anecdotal info, I have 145 miles on my ZL1 with almost one quarter tank of gas remaining. It was full when I picked it up. If Ford gets those MPG numbers, that's great. I am not in the position to complain about mine. I couldn't be happier Number 3. The ZL1 is out of sight man!

That sounds like probably decent gas mileage for a high performance vehicle, what do they have, 18 gal. tank? My 69 Z/28 got around 12mpg on the highway (14 if you were super good) and 4-6 mpg around town, less if my foot was in it. After all, good mpg is not the primary motivation for most people buying high performance vehicles.

True that Clyde! MPG is not a primary concern with HP cars as you stated. I had 4.88's on the street and got 4-5 MPG, no matter what the throttle pressure was. If you are not putting your foot into it, you're not enjoying it is my line of thought. Otherwise why did we get it? Cars are mission specific. The ZL1's mission is lean on it and be amazed at what it can do. Like our cars of yesteryear my friend!

Exactly, the only way mine got good mileage was on highway trips, around town was usually 4-6 because.......my foot was always in it! Passed everything but a gas station, but at 30-40 cents a gallon it wasn't a big deal.

With the 3.91 gears do you think the 1LE will have a GGT?

Isn't the final drive the same as the current SS?

That is a good question. I don't know how much margin there is. But there are also rules on what would cause them to retest. Not sure if an axle "option" would do it.

Final drive in 6th would keep the hoghwY number the same but the other 5 gears would sure hurt the city numbers. Plus I think the highway number also inludes miles other than just cruising at 65 mph.

I'm not sure if the gear ratios in the manual tranny have been changed along with the rear axle gear ratio....the only thing they have stated so far is the rear axle ratio. If they make the tranny a bit more close ratio in conjunction with a real axle ratio that is more rev friendly, the car will will utitilze whats left in the upper RPM band on straightaways and still power out of corners. But, the math depends on the size of the track they want to set the car up for.......

I am really looking forward to the release of the 1LE option. The ONLY reason to check the 1LE box is you plan to run it hard and mod it as fast as you run it. So what do you think most people will be doing with the engine?
