It is an Impala hood,And they do build those at another Oshawa plant.

Funny though, they say "We'll be following this red Camaro through the assembly process" but continually switch between a V6 and V8, auto and manual, Brembo and standard brakes, RS and non RS, all the while talking about the assembly as if it's the same "304 HP V6" the entire time, they even say "here's the 304HP V6" while showing a V8 being installed.

Very cool video, I just couldn't help but notice.

I noticed that as well,I just hope when I order my SS they don't stick a V6 in it!

ULTIMATE FACTORIES: See how the CAMARO and some of the worlds Exotic and Luxury cars are produced.

If you missed them before, National Geographic is broadcasting the series again today including the CAMARO episode on the Nat Geo Ch. Sept. 18, 2010.

Eastern times:

9:00am - Chevy Volt
10:00am - Porsche
11:00am - BMW
12:00pm - Rolls-Royce
1:00pm - Lamborghini
2:00pm - CAMARO
3:00pm - Peterbilt
4:00pm - Winnebago
5:00pm - Ferrari
6:00pm - Corvette

Some of you may have seen this but on the ULTIMATE FACTORIES show on cable they showed the Camaro Factory in Canada. Some interesting facts I thought were the following:

1. They produce 414 cars a a DAY or a little less than ONE a minute rolls off the assembly line.

2. The DASH on the Camaro WEIGHS 250 pounds!!! No WONDER this car is so heavy!!!. They have a robot that picks up the dash and puts it inside the car so the worker can bolt it in. (the doors are removed PRIOR to this procedure).

3. It takes a TOTAL of about 14 hours from start to finish to produce ONE car.

4. EACH car is tested on a set of dyno-like rollers to diagnose any running issues.

5. EACH car is tested in a MONSOON like rain to check for any leaks.

6. The engines are assembled in a DIFFERENT plant and shipped to the assembly plant.

7. The ENTIRE paint process on the bodies takes about SEVEN hours.

8. TWO robots put the front and rear glass IN the car using laser alignment tools in about ONE minute.

I believe ULTIMATE FACTORIES in on TLC. Anyway, check it out.
