Installed my dash ABL this afternoon. Will see tonight how it looks.

One last time, I don't have the plugs so I need to tap into a spot where my dash ABL's will light with the dome or courtesy lights and fade out when timed out. What wire do I need to look for under the dash? I have all I need to do this, sanded the edge of my dash pieces so the light will shine thru and that came out nice and even. Just need to know where to go to make this work. I've heard yellow wire and I've heard purple. Need a definitive answer as I don't want to smoke the car.
Also I'm using 3/8" screws for the panels to be put back into place. Someone said use 1/2 and that seemed to long, so what did everyone use to re-install the door panels? Thanks!

I used the screws Ofer sent me. I think they were 1/2, but not really sure. Ofer can clarify. They were a touch too long. If you're concerned though just put a washer on the screw and that should work

OMG I am actually doing this today! It's a miracle!!
buuuuuuut, as always, I've run into a couple of questions.. I have the light pipe for the driver's side. It's longer than the piece of the dash. Is a dremel tool the best thing to get a good cut? Also, the light pipe is very straight while the dash piece has a little curve to it. Do I need to do something to bend the light pipe? If so, what do I use? thx!!

oh wait.. One more. sorry.
I have found the purple wire to hook the lights up from the ones behind the kickplate (near the doors/outer edges of the car). Which wire do I use from behind the gauge cluster? I do not have a harness, so I'm just using a T tap.

Allright.. I'm back.
I've got the driver's side dash piece in, but the gap is HUGE!! I have one piece of weather stripping to help hold the tube up. I can't figure out what you guys did to have such a smaller gap. I haven't even messed with the passenger side, and there's no way I will if I can't fix this side first. Here's a couple of pictures.

looks to me like you have the light source on the left instead of the right. There's more space to have the light source on the right. Pop off the insert and flip the tube. Rewire it if you have to. If it's still too much of a gap, you can cut down the light pipe a tad. I can't recall, but did you have to shave the back of the insert? And...there should be no need for weather stripping on the back of the left side.
The right side will be much easier. Promise....the left side was always the pain in the ass for me. |
