I do find it curious that Mustang owners are here, I own a Camaro and have no desire to read what's going on in the Mustang/Challenger forums.

But whatever......it is a public forum.....Anyone has a right to lurk and post.

Are you kidding? now that is the funniest thing I have read in this thread...

Again, when the conversation is generated by mustang owners, it is annoying and immediately seen as trolling.

is it fair? probably not. but it's true. It's impossible to decipher intentions on the interwebz... so first impressions Carry a lot of weight...

FWIW

For reference this is trolling. The moment you become disrespectful and insulting you have broken the rules. Instigating a fight, which the OP is arguably doing, will get you infractions and if it continues, banned.

Sorry to do this 2010, but this is another form of trolling. we expect all our members to be respectful at all times.

if you don't like what a person is saying on our boards, feel free to report the post. and don't hesitate to continue to report a persons posts if they continue to annoy you. I can't promise that we will agree with you but we don't see everything. the report post button is a huge help to us.

And this is why we tend to come down on mustang owners. The appearance is that they are only here to inform us and defend the mustang, Gets way old.

Here is something I posted earlier today. Maybe it will help.

FWIW, I don't mind the mustang guys. I tend to get annoyed when people, traditionally mustang owners, "expect" their car to receive equal treatment.

This is not a muscle car forum. It is a camaro forum. As such we are biased and to some degree reserve the right to be so. Does that mean this is a condition of being a member here? NO. But it does mean that you have some respect for the camaro, if nothing else as a competitor.

You have the privilege as a moderator to do whatever you want. In my opinion, sometimes you close down threads too quickly. For example, this morning you chose to close the thread about the Camaro review done by "www.thesmokingtire.com" http://www.thesmokingtire.com/2010/2...#idc-container which is a pretty accurate assessment on how I feel about the interior. If there was a negative review about the Mustang 5.0, it would be talked about here without a doubt. It is better for this forum when both sides of the muscle car wars can talk about reviews and saying why they like their car better etc. I hadn't seen that review above before and was going to respond to it this morning. I do get the feeling you took it down mostly because you didn't agree with the review than anything. Is that a fair assessment since I didn't see any arguments that couldn't be dealt with quite simply with a warning and afterwords a 3 day ban if they didn't listen to the warning?

The reviewer above granted has one days worth of driving the Camaro SS M6 while I have over a year. What that reviewer does have over me is that he has driven quite a few more automobiles than I have for a comparison on the interior vs other cars in that price range. I joined this site years ago and pre-ordered the SS just as you did way before any test drives. I do have to admit that the first time I sat inside one that it was going to take some getting used to the lack of vision all around. In fact, many people said the same thing if I recall back then. I could care less about the hard plastic panels since I'm not feeling them constantly. However I do feel a difference in the material when compared to the new 2011 Mustang. Furthermore the Mustang's interior is not as wide as the Camaro's, but it is taller so you have more head room and greater visibility all around. There is no denying this fact and as a daily driver it makes it a more comfortable ride. Having adjustable lumbar support does help in the comfort level as well.

I didn't know how clunky my M6 transmission of the Camaro SS was until I did drive the new Mustang GT 5.0 and that is the honest to God truth. The reviewer from thesmokingtire is accurate in how difficult it is to perform a heal to toe maneuver and how unforgiving the clutch is if you're not perfect. The 5.0 feels better and makes for a much smoother ride.

Overall I had fun while driving around my Camaro, but feel I'm driving the more well built car between the two right now. That is after a months worth and over 1,000 miles on the Mustang 5.0 and over 6,000 miles on the Camaro SS. I'll be doing a review between the two at some point in time, there is still a lot to compare including handling, speed, cabin noise, AC cooling, paint job etc. That will be fun to write and I hope you don't consider it trolling GTHAVIT at that time because I think I've earned the right not to be called a troll, at least by you and those that know me in this forum.

There seems to be a repetition of the same idea/statements throughout this thread. It isn't going anywhere but down, and the hostility is increasing.

thread closed.

ok I don't have that much power haha
but you get my point guys.

I agree to keep this thread open. It's a more interesting read than I've had for weeks. I'll try to stir the pot every so often to keep the bees riled up!

I used to hang out on an LS1 Tech site back in the day but I NEVER recall as much douchebaggery as goes on in this site. I mean maybe my love for the Camaro has gone by the wayside, but I pick up on a lot more hating by people that don't own the cars.

This site's a little safe haven for Camaro fan-boys... it's not called Mustang5 or Ilovemylatemodeldomestic5 OF COURSE this site is going to be biased. I don't think any rational person wants absolutely only Camaro owners, but anytime I see a post that says something that goes like "My Camaro did XX.XX at the track" There's ALWAYS a non-Camaro owner hanging around the corner to tell people what's up.

Maybe w/ the LS1 and the late model Camaro's it wasn't so bad because the mustang's really WEREN'T competition and the only thing Dodge had was the Viper (which was out of most people's price league at the time). But now that the 5.0 is winning some races, and taster's choice says the Challenger could look better in the eyes of others, it's up to people to let us know.

But until I find a better forum, this is where I'll stay.

I've read every post on here but the deleted ones.

I think everyone is missing the obvious points about this whole debate.

1. Without the Challenger coming back, would we have a Camaro? My opinion is NO. I think GM saw a reemerging market and went for it. Remember its about making money.

2. Without the Challenger and Camaro, do you really think that the current 5.0 would be the car that it is. Believe it or not its competitioin between the brands that make these cars better. The fact is that the Mustang was very stagnant for the years that the Camaro was gone. Dodge and Chevy made Ford get off their collective butts. My best friend who is a Ford fanatic is ecstatic about it.

3. We forget that we can steal some of the competition's ideas. I hang out on a local Mustang website(www.okdhm.com) for ideas. If we stay within our own little group we will become stagnant. Different groups approach ideas and problems differently.

These are just my ramblings on this subject and I will not have anything further to say about it. Feel free to bash me because I have thick skin.
