Here is a picture of the bottle of oil I took to the dealership with 2600 miles worth of caught oil, next to a bottle with 2600 miles of caught oil post valley cover replacement.

L99....

installed a Maggie this weekend and saw this when i pulled the intake this is what i found.....i have an Elite can thats been on for 1000 miles so i don't know if oil is still making it to the combustion.....i think this oil had filled the lower void between the gasket, head and block prior to the can.........

^^^ how much was in the can?

To add to the picture of the two water bottles. What you can't see is those bottles have a domed center on the bottom, The dome is sticking up out of the oil in the post valley cover (duh, lol). The total amount in that bottle is probaly less than a half tablespoon.

SC2150 made note somewhere that after x miles the rings would seat and the blow by would decline. I'm at 85xx miles and just noticing a reduction beyond what took place immediately after the valley cover replacement. I'm glad the can is there, but it's sure not having to do as much now.

Taking mine tomorrow with the 6th gear popping out of gear on occasions, and gonna get them to check on the excessive oil in the catch can. I actually need about 3/4 quart of oil but want them to see it!

i haven't measured it yet but seemed excessive.....plus another thing.....the filter had unscrewed and was laying in the bottom of the can in the oil....BUT.....the throttle body had NO oil in it......so the oil around the head intake ports must have been pre can???

it's still off the car for the Maggie install........i will measure when i reassemble and start logging it......

Indeed, that is the best example you coulld post. Awesome results and shows yours definately had the valley baffel issue.

The smaller cans will catch most and with a mild build are fine, but with FI or a big cube/stroker build I find most do let a good amount through. With yours I would think the filter coming unscrewed cause the majority you see. Check again after running it 1k miles with the filter media intact & I bet it will much less getting through.

Tracy - Glad you are getting beter and well enough to be on here again.

GJG - It is recommended that you put a drop of threadlock (I'd use blue)on the threads of the diffuser. I put too much on the first time and like never got it unscrewed. I don't use threadlock anymore but knock on wood it's never been loose. Of course the longest I've gone without inspecting the can is 1200 miles. Those 1200 miles was over a two day period though.

So I haven't actually read all the posts... just wanted to ask if mine sounds normal... I have about the amount of oil shown in the first picture on this thread after about 2500 miles... I usually empty the can once between oil changes... Sound normal?

Oh, and it's an Elite Engineering can.

Look at post 85. The water bottle shown on the right would be much closer to normal. Both bottles have ~2600 miles on each.

Depending on your mileage, maybe it's just that the rings haven't sealed yet. I thought someone said a couple of tablespoons between oil changes is about the norm.

You broke your motor in right!

Shows the Elite can is doing it's job.
