Stupid worthless cops, all they're good for is enforcing laws in which you may or may not agree with and putting their lives on the line every day to put themselves between you and trouble.

I even saw one of the assholes the other day changing some old lady's flat tire on the side of the highway, that dick should be stoned for his actions.

I am not a small guy 6'1" 250lbs and one of those guys thought he should change mine for me even though I am more than capable. Oklahoma Higway Patrol to be exact. He packed behind my truck and pulled a floor jack out of the trunk of his cruiser. I thought I was waching a NASCAR pit crew that dude was fast.

+1

I see SOME cops speed by me on the highway all the time. If the speed limit applies to us, then it should apply to them as well.

That's a separate issue. The issue here is this guy needs to accept responsibility for his actions.

Well instead of handing out a ton of infractions...

I'll just close it...

I wouldn't want any one to hate me for doing my job............

I am not running a front plate either even though one is required here in WI. And I make damn sure all my stuff is up to date on insurance.
May someday get stopped for the no front plate but I will not hate a cop for doing his job knowing full well I was the one disobeying the law that he only ENFORCES and does not WRIGHT.
Man up and pay your dues.
(Sorry,no coffee yet this morning)

Why yes...we DO love the title as it catches ALL of the LEO's attention on the site. I mean...talk about putting yourself out there on our "I hate cops" radar. Wow...lol

Not mine, but I just helped out from the beginning. I DO take more pride in this site than anyone could EVER imagine. It's not "my" site, but it might as well be my 2nd home.

You really need to get over yourself with the "but I already made it to my driveway" garbage. If you committed the violation OUTSIDE of your driveway they can certainly stop you in your driveway or even give you the ticket in the mail or at your door step. I guess if you get in an accident you can tell the judge "oh no, it is ok....I made it to my driveway"..."not guilty"

You wouldn't believe how many people act like their garage or driveway is their "home base. You can't touch me! I'm on my safe area!!!"

Seems to be the underlying theme of the thread. Hold on.....let me check.

Yep. Everyone agrees. Man up and get it taken care of.

(and believe it or not, I'd be happy to help you out in a sec).

On the Ins thing, he was saying the only insurance sheet IN the car at the time was for the Tahoe's and expired. This does not mean the cars weren't insured? (or does it?) It could mean he didn't put his current ins paper in the car. It happens to me all the time.
Just because you don't agree with a law does not make a "cop" a prick for enforcing said law. You believe the cop to be a prick for enforcing a law you don't agree with. That's not how it works. If you don't like the particular law and don't obey it, you put yourself out there running the risk of getting cited. Cops enforce laws...all of them. Enforcing one over the other doesn't make one cop better or worse over the other. You might not think it was "cool," but he's not a prick. I'd bet you a million bucks that if your home was getting burglarized, he'd come running in a heartbeat. I'd bet if you were getting shot at, while everyone else was fleeing and running away, he'd be running TO you to help save your life. Why? Because that's what we do. I was put on God's green Earth for a reason...and that was to help EVERYONE. Even people who don't agree with the front plate law.

If someone is breaking into your house through your 4 year old daughters window, is walking through your house at 4 am, you are awakened and you hear screaming, or WHATEVER.... what do YOU think is the correct answer???

You think I'm going to go to a phone and waste valuable time that might save the life of my children (since I have NO earthly idea why the hell some unknown person is in my house in the first place)? Hell no. I'm going for my gun...my families protection that might save their lives.

What about the family who's house was broken into? The wife taken to the bank? The wife and young daughter brutally raped and then BURNED TO DEATH WHILE AWAKE AND FEELING EVERY SINGLE BURNING SENSATION AND SCREAMING FOR HELP WHILE IN PAIN!

And owning a firearm to protect your family is not the answer? If you want to be a statistic, find an alternate solution to protect your family. That is your constitutional right and right as a human being. But if someone breaks into my house, it might as well be because I'm a cop, because I have a family, and because someone wants to retaliate. You'd better believe that if someone breaks into my house, I'll have MY solution. I wish more people felt this way too. Property crime would dramatically decrease if people actually looked out for each other and stood up for themselves.

They can only ticket you for it when your car is already parked. It may be different in whatever state you may be in but yeah, maybe that's why he followed you until you parked your car. But he saw you breaking the law and just waited until he was legally allowed to intercede. Having no proof of insurance was just a bonus ticket for him. It seems to me that the cop was probably in the right, legally, but yeah...I just wanted to give a little speculation on why he waited until you parked.
Simply not having a front plate is not a violation in and of itself. Once you get behind the wheel and drive it on a public road IS a violation. He said he was followed and stopped after being parked in his driveway. It does not matter when the stop was made. The officer saw the violation and as the guy stopped, took action. Again, "home base" is not a safe zone.

The vehicle has to be in operation in order for a ticket to be issued. If you have expired registration, I can't just go up to an unmanned vehicle and write the car or owner a ticket. The car has to be in motion on a public road. Private property does not count. In TX, you don't need anything to be able to drive on private property....no license...no insurance...etc. It's the public roadway that counts.

And people actually believe this. Which brings me to....

We just lost an officer for doing that SAME EXACT THING...stopping to help someone...

Sergio Antillion....SAPD officer killed by drunken driver after stopping to help a stranded motorist while heading home from his shift.
Quote:
Officer Sergio Antillon succumbed to injuries sustained one week earlier when he was struck by a drunk driver.

He was still in uniform and had just finished his shift when he stopped to assist another motorist on Loop 410 while heading home. Just as an on duty officer stopped at the scene, a drunk driver struck Officer Antillon and the motorist. Officer Antillon was transported to University Hospital where he remained unconscious until passing away. The driver was arrested and faces charges in connection with the officer's death.
I'll end it with this.

We are here to help you. YOU....ALL OF YOU. You may agree or not. That is your God given right.

But, if you fail to obey the law and are cited, we are not the ones to blame. Look in the mirror. We are doing our jobs. If you don't like the law, have it repealed. But don't come down on officers for your failure to obey laws which you agreed to when you got behind the wheel of your automobile.

Now, OP. You want advice?

I'd be happy to help.

Go get suction cups like the majority of us have done in SA. Suction cups go at the top of the plate and you put it on your dash attached to your front window. Take pictures. Show the Judge and take in your current insurance paperwork.

Depending on the jurisdiction, showing the Judge you are apologetic and were willing to adhere to the laws will result in a dismissal of your traffic fines. Pictures of the plate and proof of insurance. You will probably pay a $10 court fee and be gone.

I hope the help that this officer has given you assists you in getting your situation taken care of.

Sorry for posting after you once the thread was closed, Chris. But, I was planning on doing the same thing...closing the thread and not handing out infractions either.
