Did I log on to ilovemycamryaccordmaxima.com by mistake? Please give GM a break! All manufacturers share insignificant parts across platforms. Does the steering wheel turn the front wheels? That is all I really care about.

I personally would rather they spend their time increasing HP, reducing weight and for future versions of the Camaro, working on exterior design. Yes I love the current design! Of course they also need to deal with emissions and MPG courtesy of our government.

This is supposed to be an "enthusiast" web site? Fbod and Number3 your contributions and tempered answers are appreciated.

Next thing we know people will be complaining about the dashboard materials! Oh wait, that already happened.

That is not a true statement.

We have other enthusiasts 'sensitive to design' that do not feel the same way as you do.

Please - just allow others to see the 2012 in person -- I suspect it will grow on them -- as well as you --

......just as the SS fascia did with some

.........Just as the B-pillar did with some......

........just as the *insert panic du jour here* did to some....

Now - you write:

.........And for the record, I have been driving a 2011 Chevy Cruze for a month (dealer loaner). I hate it. Dont get me wrong, the interior is great..... and so is the steering wheel (for that kind of car), which is why I requested it versus the Malibu or Impala I would usually get stuck with. Design/perceived quality-wise the Cruze is great. But as soon as I have to move it from out of my driveway.... I HATE IT, cuz it still drives like a shit-box (the base model at least). But this is probably from me being used to driving a Camaro as my daily-driver........

What on earth????!!!!

Did you drive it back-to-back with a similar Corolla and/or Civic?

OF COURSE it's not going to drive like a Camaro. It was never meant to.....and if it did, it would probably have problems with acceptability with its target market -

......REGARDLESS........it is NOT a s@#& box and for you to say something like that concerns me greatly.

I would strongly consider getting a 2012, the steering wheel should not be a deal breaker. Although it would be the very FIRST mod im gonna be doing when aftermarket products comes out (hopefully they would really look better than this one). I still think its very ugly.

Glad I have my 2010 with a Muscle car steering wheel.
Why put an economy car wheel on a Camaro?
Just to please the critics?

Easy solution to the problem here since this seems to be a 50/50 split. Why not just make the 2010-11 wheel an option for one year and see which one sells the most? GM could even charge $100-$150 dollars off-set the inconvenience of having really test the market on a part for once...

As far as the steering wheel goes- deal breaker for me. And for those of you who think the steering wheel can't affect sales- ask the 2005 Corvette. the "doughboy" wheel lasted one year.
Even the most recent reviews and coparos have good things to say. Hate to say this but please quote your sources.

The recent reviews did pick the Focus and Mazda 3 but those are more performance oriented cars and I'd expect them to pick that way.

You seem unable to accept how good the Cruze is........and it's quite outstanding.

When I looked at cars for a daily driver the Cruze was among them. I liked the Cruze, it was comfortable and nice looking. I thought it was a little underpowered for its curb weight, but its fuel economy and not performance that these cars are built for. The Cruze was so nice in fact that it was reflected in the MSRP, so I went with a Fiesta instead. The Cruze is a way better model than the Cobalt and Cavlier which, proceeded it. I just wish the price after a couple options didn't intrude on Camaro LS territory or I would've have gone with it. Seems to be how the whole compact segment pricing is going though.

Are people really having this discussion about a steering wheel? You have got to be kidding me.... Anybody who wouldn't purchase a 2012 because of a steering wheel probably wasn't going to purchase one anyways. That is maybe the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I'm on my 2nd fifth gen and the ZL1 may be my third and really can't say I ever factored the steering wheel design into my decision process. MAKES NO SENSE!

You'd be surprised what makes people decide whether or not to buy cars. For me when I was comparing the 2010 Mustang and 2010 Camaro, the thing that sold me was the substantial difference in performance between both cars. Had it been a decision between the interiors of the two cars, the Mustang would have been the choice. Personally I like the look of the 10-11 wheel but even more so I like the fact that it fits my hands perfectly and its an easy to 10 and 2. From reading most of the complaints about the current wheel it seemed that most magazine editors couldn't get their hands around the wheel for some reason. I guess all the testers at Motor Trend must 5'3 and have tiny hands.

Using a division wheel is acceptable...but how about a performance division wheel? Don't just use a 'passenger' class wheel and call it done...it whitewashes the 'goal/purpose/intent/brand' of the car.

I appears that changes where made to the 'wheel' part...which will be interesting to 'feel'. I've always believed the wheel is too large in over all diameter. Additionally, it's too small in grip diameter...and the shape forces your wrists into an unnatural position. If these issues are remedied, I could partially forgive the horrible decision to change a key design element with an 'off the shelf' design.

Every time I get out of my car and into my wifes BMW 530...i wish I could put her steering wheel in my car (it has the exact same wheel as the M3 and M5 and it is fantastic). Now that's an idea GM...instead of taking off the shelf parts and putting them in your performance division cars...why don't you take performance division parts and put them into you regular division cars?

I agree with that, typical practice of GM in the 60's and early 70's, offering optional steering wheels. I think Chevy will see that the 10-11 steering wheel would sell better. It says Camaro. I don't know who all these people are that are complaining to Scott Settlemire about the steering wheel, but I have been to 100's of car shows, cruise ins, and have talked to tons of people about the new Camaro and never heard once a complaint about the wheel. And I thought when GM emerged from bankruptcy they were not going to make the same mistakes the old GM did. When is the new Cadillac Cimmaron coming out?

That will never happen because it won't appeal to everyone under the sun, although I don't understand why wheel styles can't be an option. The Impala wheel kinda makes me wonder what GM will change next on the Camaro to make this it appealing to the general mass..... These cars will never be bought in numbers like a Cruze, Impala or Malibu is, so why try to cater to everyone with the generic Chevy style wheel?
