I've owned both cars, being the SRT-8 and currently own the 2SS. They are 2 different kinds experiences. Its just personal preference honestly. Each vehicle has its advantages and disadvantages. What it comes down to is which one would you rather deal with when its all said and done.

And when I say I've owned both cars i've owned them both at the same time, but let one of them just because it I saw myself driving 1 of them alot more then the other. Plus the excitement factor for me never went away from the car I have now. Can you guess what I kept and let go?

This is the Challenger I let go, lol.

I picked the camaro because of several things: 1. The styling is aggressive and sleek ( almost a year later and its still turning heads) 2. I'm a chevy/ gm guy at heart. I have heard some horror stories about dodge reliability. Ilikethe challengers a lot, but I had to go with the camaro.

The horror stories are simply fallacies, usually from non-Challenger owners. I've had no problems with my 09 RT. There is always one in a bunch that may have an issue, doesn't matter what brand it is. On the Challenger forums, there are many horror stories about problems with the Camaro - it happens on every forum when comparing cars, doesn't matter which car or what forum.

Thats un-true, atleast its your opinion. I've owned 3 Challengers. 09' R/T '10 R/T and then the '10 SRT-8. I had some minor issues with the '09 R/T. But I didn't have any with the '10 SRT-8. I had 1 but wouldn't really call it anything important which was the window strip molding managed to crack in the inside of the vehicle, how I have no clue. And this is coming from a 3-time Challenger owner....

I didnt have any reliability or quality problems with my '10 Challenger R/T. I let it go because of gas prices and the fact I was putting miles on the car like gangbusters.

Anybody else have pros or cons for deciding which car to get?
I'm a Mopar kind of guy (hence the user name) but when I compared the SRT-8 Challenger to the Camaro it came down to price. To get a Challenger SRT-8 equiped like my Camaro 2ss would have cost me another $10,000. That and for some reason my wife hates the Challenger and loves the Camaro, so convincing her to let me get a Camaro was pretty easy.

I had a charger rt with AFM. I never noticed it going on and off. I had a stock exhaust though.

For the money, the SS for sure, HOWEVER, the Camaro's interior SUCKS. The seats are fine but everything else is cheap ass plastic. EVERYTHING. You can bitch all you want about the SRT8 having the LX interior, but it is a nicer place to be.

It sounds like you are agreeing with me???? I suppose it depends on what you consider an issue. By your own words this sounds like minor stuff. To say that the Camaro hasn't suffered these same kinds of issues is untrue, just search this forum. I was actually referring to more serious things than window molding.

Anytime you hang out on a board for a particular model, you're going to hear a higher concentration of failures/issues then all the "normal" folk out there driving them and not having issues.

I have had the window trim piece on the passenger side crack, it was a tsb and fixed for nothing. any other issues I've had were introduced by myself, like swaybay end links clunking in the new hotchkis swaybars, etc.

+ and -'s on both models. I think the SS is a better buy for the $$, I also think the SRT is nicer appointed and options available. I've only window shopped the mustang, never driven it, never seen what options and accrutaments are available. I believe the new 5.0 is a wicked motor, and have heard horror stories on the 6 speed manual trans.

Dodge's interior is way better.

Exterior is preference....I personally like the way the Camaro looks better... My dad has a Challenger R/T I like the interior almost as much as the interior on my Road and Track Package charger R/T

Camaro is the best bang for buck performance.
