As posted above, it gets louder with aftermarket exhaust. However, after I installed short tube headers, it decreased dramatically.

Typical sounds of backfiring during deceleration is a sound of a poorly tuned motor.

Since GM has the fuel shut off it is now understandable.

I had people ducking for cover when I first put my Stainless Works exhaust system on. I changed my mufflers to something a little less aggressive and it tamed it down considerably. I love the sound of a little back pop on decel, just not to the point where it sounds like gun fire.

What is up with the name calling. Sheesh.

I didn't call anyone names, nor did I make it a personal attack. Just pointed out the difference between a Luxo car and a factory Hot Rod.

J/K.........

It's normal - I love the sound!
LOL there is a fuel additive out there that reduces the gas and bloating caused by these meals.

Probably sounded good in your head but came off a little condescending when the words hit the screen.

When I had stock exhaust, my Rosie, was much quieter. Virtually any High Performance Engine will do this regardless of manufacturer. When you have a lower restriction exhaust, it is very normal for this type of car. Also, if you look at some of the more luxo cars, they have a lot more sound insulation which also, deadens the sound.

You'll, hopefully grow much more used to the sound. If you add aftermarket exhaust, it will definitely be more noticable.

Perhaps, Sorry. But at least I didn't start calling people names.

Pretty sure Decel cut-off is to help meet CAFE requirements. Not sure its old school muscle car but I actually like the sound

I thought it was bad to engine break during the engine break in period of an LS3, something about letting the piston rings seal first? Consequently I haven't heard this sound yet as I've yet to downshift to slow down. Can anyone confirm as the OP may be doing his engine a disservice.

It's normal. I love the sound . . . my exhaust sounds pewny (sp?), but that crackling is awesome.
